A UK home delivery car, first registered with Surrey County Council in September 1969. It was exported to Sweden in the early 1970's where it remains. Still a Right Hand Drive car the odometer was changed to record in kilometres rather than in miles to comply with Swedish law at that time.

Low mileage example

Subject to recent ground-up restoration

This superb example is presented in one of the most attractive colour combinations of Opalescent Silver Blue with cream leather interior which is accentuated by blue piping and a blue mohair hood. This is a genuine UK car, it was supplied to Guy Salmon, London and first registered on 11th September 1969 to a Mr. Berman of Surrey. The car was originally specified in Crème with a blue softtop. Sometime later, the car was exported to Sweden to its second owner, at this point it had covered a mere 9,000 miles. During its time the car was restored and painted red with full black trim and the speedo was changed for a new kilometre unit. We are informed that service sheets detail that the car covered a further 19,096km in this time. This roadster remained in Sweden until 2016 when it was returned to the UK due to the owners advancing in age.

Upon its return to the UK, its third and current owner decided it was once again destined for a restoration, this time however a full and comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration. With the odometer showing so few miles, this made an incredibly desirable low-owner, low mileage example.

We are informed the restoration was based on a no expense-spared philosophy with the project costing in excess of £100,000 and taking thousands of man hours to finish. Presented as new, the panel gaps are described by our vendor as being as they were when they left the factory. Whilst the body was being restored, we are informed the engine was sent away for a full rebuild although it is stated that the engine originally was in good order prior to the restoration process. Upon completion, the interior was retrimmed, all chrome work renewed or replaced and after a shakedown the car finished to the stunning order you see here.

Within the history file is a comprehensive collection of photos of the restoration process from start to finish, accompanying this is photographic evidence of the original odometer showing 9,000 miles before export to Sweden and photographic evidence of the odometer showing 19,096 km when purchased in Sweden, with the vendor warranting the 20,866 genuine miles from new.

A two-owner, spectacularly low mileage, fully restored, original righthand drive, UK supplied Series II Roadster, there is not a better E-Type recipe and with many similar cars making in excess of £150,000, we believe this is estimated very attractively.

Sold by 1st Choice Car and Body Repairs of Wantage in December 2021. Amended seller's description below.

www.1stchoicebodyworks.net/restored-classic-period-retro-cars-for-sale-oxfordshi ...

This is a rare E Type convertible, a genuine UK RHD car with low mileage and supporting history with just 3 owners. This E Type was supplied by Guy Salmon to Mr Berman of Surrey on 11th September 1969 finished in Cream with a blue leather interior and blue hood. It went to Sweden in the early 1970's where a few years later the owner restored the car changing the colour to red and re-trimmed the interior in black leather. The second owner did just 17,000 kilometres in over 40 years of ownership. In 2016 when he was in his 90s he gave up driving and sold the car to our MD who brought the car back to the UK.

The full rotisserie restoration was undertaken in our workshops by our highly experienced team of classic car restorers. We decided that we wanted it finished in Opalescent Silver Blue as in our opinion it is the most stunning colour. We also changed the interior to Cream with Blue piping and fitted a new Blue mohair roof. All the chrome has been re-chromed, the engine has been sent to a highly regarded specialist for a full strip and rebuild. It is fully detailed and the car is in as new condition with excellent panel gaps. Thousands of hours have been invested in the restoration and the car is outstanding.
