Sellers comment:
Excellent mechanicals but fair-to-average cosmetics. You can drive and enjoy this Jaguar "as is" and improve the cosmetics (if you so desire) over time. The previous owner had over $30K invested on this car with most work having been done over the last two years. The suspension, brakes and rear suspension were recently done to high standards.

Interior: The seats were redone years ago in vinyl (the headrest are new and leather) but are still functional. and can be used as is. All the gauges (except clock which needs a battery) work. Dash, steering wheel and horn knob are in good condition.

Body: The car looks good from 10 feet but at closer inspection paint flaws (poor preparation, orange peel) are apparent. The floor were redone using flat heavy gauge metal and there is some filler on the rocker panels and bonnet. It appears this work was done some time ago. XKE floor pans and rocker panels are readily available and at reasonable costs (example: rocker panels are about $100 each) if you ever decide to restore the car as original. There is a dent in the front of the bonnet, the chrome bumper was not affected. Glass, chrome and wire wheels are good. The engine compartment subframe is rust free and straight, there are no indications of the car ever been in an accident.

Mechanicals: Runs very good with plenty of power and superb oil pressure (50 psi). Brakes were redone including the rear brake rotors (not a trivial job on an XKE). The rear suspension was completely disassembled and new bushings, U-joints, etc installed ...it was then detailed to show quality condition. The front suspension was similarly redone with new ball joints, tie rods, brake hoses, etc. The exhaust is new and so are the tires. An electronic ignition was installed for increased reliability.Clutch seems to have been recently replaced and is strong and chatter free.

Miscellaneous: Includes spare tire, knock off hammer with tool and jack

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
