Year 1970

Make Jaguar

Model E Type

Colour Green

Odometer 25,495 Miles

Engine size 4235

Location Devon, previously Berkshire

Country United Kingdom

UK registered from day 1, this vehicle has only been in the ownership of 9 individuals who each in turn have loved and cherished this fine vehicle. The car was registered in November 1970 and from 1975 to 1988 the vehicle was kept in storage, untaxed until the acquisition by Ilford Motor Carriage Company.

Currently residing in Devon, this car has incredibly genuine and documented low mileage, 25,495 to be exact. Owned by the seller since 2012 where it has been garaged and covered for most of its life. The online MOT history shows a clear record of the yearly mileage increments from 2006, in the last 10 years 6,000 miles have been covered.

Additional paperwork is also provided, including signed letters from owner to owner confirming the mileage is genuine, as well as further MOT documents.

THE PAPERWORK

Extensive amounts of paperwork will be included with the sale, these include but are not limited to; - Original Operating, Maintenance and Service Handbook

- Original Green Logbook

- Copy of Classic and Sports Car Magazine with sales ad on this specific car in 1989 - Copy of Sales ad from Racing Green Cars in 2005

- Original owner letters confirming mileage upon sale.

- Original letter from Ilford Motor Carriage Company confirming the acquisition and sale with a record of mileage.

- A record of MOT dates and mileages

- Copy of private plate being assigned and removed to this vehicle

- Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate

- Part purchases

- Extensive Service and mechanical maintenance records

- Body and paint restoration invoices

- Interior restoration/re-trim invoices

- Wiring diagram

- Jaguar Drivers Club handbook

- Original Jaguar owners service policy

- E Type mechanical diagram

- Modern V5c Logbook present

THE EXTERIOR

This E-Type is outstanding, the current owner has had the vehicle taken back to bare metal and resprayed Galway Green, a beautiful metallic dark green which looks simply incredible on this vehicle. They have also had the seats re-trimmed to a gorgeous beige leather with matching interior carpet, which tie in with the metallic green so well. As the sun bounces off the immaculate paint, there’s a sparkle and glisten alongside the beautiful chrome trims.

The wire wheels are wider and have a larger offset than the originals giving the car a much better stance and feel on the road. Each wheel is immaculate and the tyres are all in great order. Underneath the body, everything seems to be clear from anything unwanted, all the components are clean and free from damage.

A new green canvas roof has also recently been commissioned, again the colour match to the body paint and contrasting beige interior is a match made in heaven.

We must have walked around the vehicle a hundred trims in awe, it’s difficult to comprehend how an onlooker must have felt seeing one of these cars 50 odd years ago, the E-Type is just such a beautiful car, this E-Type is absolutely sublime bumper to bumper.

THE INTERIOR

Inside the praise continues, sophisticated yet subtle thanks to aretrim from black to beige. This was carried out under the current owners instructions and well, in our opinion it's just perfect. It amplifies the external paint the way a dark leather could not and acts as a contrast to the black dash and gauges. The wooden steering wheel sits elegantly in front of the instrument cluster where you’ll see the odometer and super low miles. Original buttons and gauges are still present which have some small wear, really nothing at all truthfully, there’s nothing broken, missing or damaged, just a small bit of wear on the plastic. A time-appropriate radio has also been installed with FM/AM and aux input, it looks like it could have come out of the same factory, not at all intrusive or modern looking. The carpet in the footwell almost seems untouched, just like the rear boot area which shares the same beige finish. Inside and out, this car is stunning.

THE MECHANICS

As documented, the car has been in the ownership of individuals who have cared for and maintained the vehicle with no cost spared. The 4.2L inline six started with no effort and idled sweetly with no issues raised or mentioned by the current owner. The car will be celebrating its 51st birthday this November so continued maintenance will be required without question but you can be confident that everything that the car has needed has been carried out.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
