Car to be at auction 10/8/11
    www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

    Auction description:
    Lot 149 - 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2 Litre Roadster
    Estimate: £45,000 - £55,000
    Registration Number: 795 BBB
    Chassis Number: IR 1600

Described by the vendor as being in excellent condition throughout, this fine series II roadster is finished in British Racing Green with a biscuit interior. The car has undergone bare metal re-spray and an engine rebuild all in the last year; and has had sympathetic modifications such as stainless steel exhaust and electronic ignition. Included in the file is a V5 document, MoT certificate valid until June 2012 as well as receipts for work carried out and a photographic record of the respray.

This gutsy 4.2 remains fresh and lively and with the E-Type in its element, one can appreciate what an exciting car this was and still is.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
