Among aficionados there are many who consider the Series II 4.2 E-Type to be the best choice of these legendary Jaguar sports cars to run as a classic car today. That’s because the Series II retains the purity of lines of the original E-Type design but benefits from the many running changes and ultimately the upgrades that the Series II brought. And if we’re talking desirability, then of course the E-Type convertible is at the top of the tree. Here we have a very nice example, first registered in Victoria on 13 January 1972. It’s finished in signal red with a black soft-top and matching black leather interior. A period Sanyo radio-cassette player is a nice touch inside, and that woodrim steering wheel is gorgeous. The Series II convertible’s soft-top is in good shape, as are the chromed wire-wheels, and it comes with a soft cover for inside storage. Under the current ownership the 4.2 litre straight-six was rebuilt and lots of money spent on general maintenance. What’s not to like? Values have stabilised since the E-Type celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011 but remain strong, and it’s hard to imagine interest ever waning in these beautiful cars. Previously on full South Australian registration, this 1970 Jaguar E-type Series II convertible is being offered for sale here unregistered.
