During his 23-year ownership of this Black beauty the car has been consistently maintained and, most importantly, driven and enjoyed on many long and foreign trips.
During the last 8 years its use has become less frequent, mainly due to the arrival of children into the mix, and it's now being put up for auction so it can once again be used more often.
The Interior
• Original black interior
• Factory fitted Webasto sunroof
• Upgraded stereo
Overall the original interior presents really well, with only the patina and the obvious wear on the two seats and the centre armrest showing any hint of the car’s true age.
Carpets, door cards and internal chrome handles are all still very nice and the dashboard has no cracks or any other damage, although under the dash could do with the wires tidying up and the surrounds to all the smiths gauges have some very early signs of corrosion, but all the dials work and are still nice and clear.
In the boot area there is the spare wheel, jack and the all-important copper mallet to undo the chrome spinners, but there is no toolkit.
The Exterior
• Excellent black paintwork
• Excellent wire wheels all with good Dunlop Sport radial tyres
• Great overall condition
Repainted many years ago in its original Black colour the car still looks exceptional from all angles, the paint having a good, deep shine to it with only one small stone chip and nothing else to spoil this perfect picture.
All the body panels and doors are all nice and straight with good panel gaps all-round with only the external chrome showing its age in places, otherwise it presents extremely well as you’d have to agree looking through the photographs.
Undersealed early on the sills and chassis rails are all really nice and under the huge bonnet some light work will soon smarten up any areas that could have a coat of paint.
The car looks great from all angles and sits squarely and purposefully on the tarmac on its gleaming wire wheels and Dunlop Sport tyres.
The Mechanics
• Regularly maintained and driven
• Engine rebuilt in 1985
• Recent new rear brake discs, pads and callipers
• Handbrake mechanism greased and serviced
• New engine oil and sump gasket
• New gearbox oil
• Carburettors stripped down and rebuilt
• New oil and seals in rear differential
Constantly maintained throughout his long-term ownership the car has been treated to on-going fettling and attention to keep the car in excellent running order and is reported to start on the button and drive superbly.
The engine pulls strongly and the four speed all synchromesh gearbox changes up and down smoothly and precisely, with the brakes providing secure stopping power.
