Its heritage certificate confirms that this S2 coupe was built in June 1970 and dispatched to the Clarke and Simpson dealership for sale to its first owner P F Hemmings of Fulmer, Buchinghamshire. According to correspondence on the history file it was the fourteenth from last S2 coupe built. Originally registered ELR40J it was re-registered YPP38J within the first six years of its life. It has had only three owners from new, the second keeping it from 1983 to 2006, and has covered less than 41,000 miles to date, backed by many MOT's back to 1976 at which point it had covered 30,960 miles. In 1980-81 it was extensively restored by Hartford Motors of Oxford including a bare metal repaint and the fitment of slightly larger back arches. Subsequently refurbished by renowned Jaguar restorers, Pheonix Motors of Eardisley, the car remains in very sound condition today.
