I saw this car advertised on E-Bay on 11-4-10. I went to see it and now negotiating to purchase it. Needs headliner, door pulls, outside rear view mirrors, engine hoses and wires. No rust- solid bodied car that runs and drives. Original color was a silver-blue.

Current bid $12,100 reserve not met, 5 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Listed for sale by Coventry Garage LLC, is a 1969 JAGUAR XKE (E-Type) Coupe that is in absolutely wonderful, NO RUST, condition. We are offering it for sale with the "BUY IT NOW PRICE" OF $26,000.00. (VIN# 1R25211)

This car has all the right features consisting of a 4 speed manual transmission and 2 carburetor 6 cylinder in line XK Jaguar engine. It is a Pale Primrose (pale yellow) exterior with black leather interior, 5 newer wire wheels with newer Goodyear Eagle tires, factory air conditioning (non-working), factory rear window de-fogger and NO RUST. This is a 2 DOOR SPORTS COUPE (not the 2+2 coupe) with a luggage area behind the front bucket seats. We have found NO RUST ANYWHERE ON THIS CAR. The floors, doors, sills, trunk and bonnet are in great condition. The car shows only 1366 miles on the working odometer, but that may be 101,366 miles. IF YOU HAVE EVER WANTED TO OWN A BRITISH SPORTS CAR, this is the one to buy as the prices on all XKE'S keep on going up; especially since this is the 50th anniversary of the E-Type. This car runs great, starts quickly, shifts nicely and has a nice black leather interior. The paint shines very well. The chrome wire wheels are in near perfect condition. The car was re-painted at some point; the original exterior color was a silver/blue color although the car was re-painted in Pale Primrose and the paint is in very nice condition. The seats have been re-done in black leather and are in very nice shape. The carpets seem to be the originals and are in nice condition as is the rear vinyl luggage area. The car is very presentable as it sits and a very nice "driver" condition car. The VIN# on this car is 1R25211.

We have just changed some of the radiator hoses and the antifreeze, changed the engine oil and oil filter and have drained the gas tank and installed new gasoline filters. The car runs very well and brakes very well. We found this car being stored in a heated garage for about the past 15 years in Columbus Ohio by whom we think was the second owner. There is no rust under this car; the floors, sills, rear suspension mounts are all in great shape. The entire rear suspension/rear end was re-done at some point. The rear suspension was rebuilt with new springs, new Boge shocks, and it looks like all new rear suspension bushings (new large radius arm and new suspension bushings in the rear and front of the car). The rear suspension was definitely removed from the car and repainted in a dark blue color with a yellow colored "pumpkin". You can easily see that all new rotors, rear calipers, bridge pipes for the brake fluid, new brake pads and rotors were installed on the rear of this car. The brakes work very well.

Most of the front suspension (ball joints, tie rod ends, front shocks) have been replaced and are in great shape. The whole exhaust is in nice condition but it is NOT a stainless exhaust and does show some surface rust- probably from sitting for so long. The interior air conditioning vents are in pretty good shape but the car is missing the A/C compressor so the A/C does not presently work. Originally had AC: compressor removed and alternator remained behind radiator. The steering wheel has some cracks in the wood, the horn button has a few scratches and the headliner has some age related marks but is not hanging down. The air box containing the heater core has been painted a light yellow color but is in very good, non rusty condition. The alternator housing has been chromed and some of the heater hoses are a non authentic stainless braided metal. There is a chrome strip missing from the bottom of the rear window. A non-authentic passenger side mirror was taken off the car and the holes are there. We do have more photos of the floors from underneath the car and can send them to you. The floors are in very good condition especially at the large radius arm connections and the foot wells where rust usually forms. There are no signs that these floors, sills or trunk/boot area were ever worked on as they are in very nice condition. The sills and rear spare tire well are in great shape. THER ARE NO HOLES IN THE BOOT/TRUNK FLOOR. You can see some of the original light silver/blue paint under the spare tire area and on the front engine mount frames. The car has all newer rubber seals around the doors, windows and bumpers. The engine has been upgraded to a spin on/off oil filter system. The original fuel filter is attached to the car but an alternate filter system is being used. We DO have the proper black arm rests for the door interior and they DO go with the car.

If you come out to see this XKE we can put the car up on our lift for you so you can view the car from underneath.

Addendum: The previous owner had this car closer to 25 years than 15 years. It was housed in a heated garage/workshop and taken out a few times per year. I will provide the names of the previous owners to the final buyer of this car.

Yes: The radio does work, but it is a non-original radio.

Yes: the headlights and other lights work and the alternator does charge the battery.

The oil pressure holds very well and after a 30 minute run it read at 20-25 PSI. We just changed the oil with 20-50W Castrol motor oil.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
