The current owner purchased the Jaguar out of California in 2000 and in addition to a new black interior, it was mechanically updated in many ways for better performance, handling, and braking, including a preferred early-style intake setup with triple S.U. carburetors and 5-speed gearbox. From 2004 through 2011, the Jaguar won a succession of Regional- and National-level awards under JCNA (Jaguar Clubs North America) judging and it also garnered awards in various concours dElegance. While it was a proven and consistent show winner, the owner gave the E-Type another extensive nut-and-bolt restoration, completed in 2011, including a bare-metal repaint and further mechanical upgrades. During the winter of 2012, the Jaguars original matching numbers XK engine was removed, totally rebuilt with select performance upgrades, and reinstalled along with a JT5 5-speed manual gearbox.
