This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II fixed-head coupe that was purchased by the seller in 1972 and underwent a mechanical refurbishment in 2011 which is said to have included overhauling the engine and replacing components in the braking, cooling, exhaust, and ignition system as well as refurbishing the interior. The car is finished in Pale Primrose over black leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes dual Stromberg carburetors, an electronic-ignition distributor, 15” knock-off wire wheels, Michelin red-line tires, chrome bumpers, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. This XKE is now offered in New York State with spare parts, wheel dollies, a production record trace certificate, a car cover, Jaguar magazines and literature, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Pale Primrose and features chrome bumpers with overriders, a driver-side mirror, chrome trim and brightwork, and polished dual exhaust outlets. The seller reports an accident occurred in 1975 that resulted in repairing and refinishing the driver-side door and hood, while other imperfections include deteriorated rubber gaskets around the windshield, rear hatch, and rear bumper, a cracked amber turn signal lens, stone chips, a dent in the rear bumper, and corrosion on the bottoms of the doors and rear hatch. The windshield and rear hatch chrome trim has been removed from the car and is included in the sale.
Chrome-finished 15” wire wheels feature earless knock-offs and Jaguar-branded centers, and are fitted with Michelin red-line tires. The brake master cylinder and other braking and suspension system components are said to have been replaced during the 2011 refurbishment.
The cabin features bucket seats that were reupholstered in black leather with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Equipment includes a heater, seat belts, manual crank windows, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and a locking glove compartment. A crack is present in the dashboard, the passenger door handle sticks, the driver interior door panel is warped, and the radio is not connected to the antenna.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a nonfunctional analog clock, and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 86k miles, approximately 74k of which were added during current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Stromberg carburetors and a duplex intake manifold and is said to have been overhauled in 2011 which included boring the cylinders and replacing the pistons, crankshaft, bearings, and cylinder head. Additional work during the refurbishment reportedly included replacing the hoses, radiator, wiring harness, and various engine compartment bolts as well as detailing and repainting the engine bay, installing an electronic ignition distributor, and converting to a spin-on oil filter system.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, and the seller reports vibration from the transmission around 70 miles per hour. The undercarriage is said to have been repainted in 2011, a stainless-steel exhaust system has been installed, and additional underside images are presented in the gallery.
Included in the sale is a Production Record Trace Certificate which shows production information and serial numbers for the chassis, engine, body, and gearbox. Also included in the sale are four wheel dollies, a car cover, Jaguar literature, and chrome exterior trim.
