Opening bid $24,500, no reserve, no bids 6 days left in auction. Same location.

    Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar XKE (E-Type) fixed head coupe (not a 2+2) Red exterior with black leather interior.
Serial number: 1R26715 I have the original owners handbook, and the engine, transmission, and chassis all match the book. It is a 4 speed manual transmission.

I also have detailed maintenance, and service records for the previous two owners, and owner information, I believe from the second owner, forward.

One very desirable modification made to the car, and detailed in the notes, was the change from the original series II dual Stromberg carburetors to the Series I triple SU carburetors, original linkage, and triple intake manifolds. The wheels are newer Dayton D472 wire wheels (exact replicas of the originals) with the nicer looking series I two-eared knock-offs.

The car is in excellent condition. I have closely gone over it, looking at the sills, floor, and gastank/spare-tire area and all is solid and rust free. As far as I know (myself, and the last two owners) the car was garaged, and only driven as an occasional car. I've never driven the car in the rain.

The car runs great, shifts smoothly, the clutch holds great with no slipping. The brakes are fine, and the car stops with no pull to one direction or the other. The car from original, is non-power steering, and non-air conditioned. The instruments are original, and working. Also has the original jack and pouch (hard to find.) The car has a modern radio head-unit installed (working) But I also have the original, hard to find, radio blanking plate.

Also have some additional items not shown, such as the passenger side headrest, lead hammer, extra parts, etc.

Starts, runs, and drives great. Not a "100-point" show car, but a fine, presentable driver.

52k miles. The car has been restored over the years, with records to show for it.

    1969 Jaguar E Type Series 2 4.2L For Sale
Coys Auctions | Spring Classics | 12th March 2013 | Royal Horticultural Society Westminster, United Kingdom
    Estimate from £35,000 to £45,000

This particular E-type on offer today has had just three owners from new and has covered a mere 52,500 miles in this time. Testament to the quality of this car, we are informed it scored highly - 99.96 in Jaguar Club of North America's Concours D' Elegance in 2001. The vendor informs us that the matching numbers engine and transmission are all in excellent fettle.

Most recently new wire wheels and tyres have been fitted. 1R26715 also benefits from having the carburettors changed to triple SU's, aiding its pick up and performance greatly. Reported by the vendor to be just about as it left the factory, the black leather interior has grown a wonderful patina and show signs consistent with age and mileage. It comes complete with a large history file, containing a iety of bills and receipts totalling over $35,000. A highly original and unmolested example, complete with original service log book.

Finished in the iconic E-type colour of Carmen red over black, 1R26715 is offered with a US title and EU taxes paid.

Car to return to auction 7/13

    Auction description:
    Silverstone Classic Sale
1969 Jaguar E-Type Fixedhead Coupe Series II
    Lot No.: TBA
    Registration: Unreg'd
    Chassis Number: 1R26715
    Engine Number: 7R120419
    Number of cylinders: 6
    CC: 4200
    Year of Manufacture: 1969
    Estimate (£): 30,000 - 35,000

This striking fixed-head E Type Coupé has a certain look about it. It sits really well in an almost poised fashion and has a character that many imported cars lack. The car is reported to have had only three owners from new and has seemingly travelled just 52,500 miles in its time.

Though a little thick in places, the Carmen Red paint is completed to a high finish. Were it mine I'd mop the paint back to curb any of the orange peel effect that may follow. The chrome-work is in all round good condition, and the door, bonnet and boot shuts are excellent. The interior is absolutely as original though perhaps looking a little untidy in places. Again, were it mine I'd consider re-colonising the seats to preserve its current patina.

Mechanically, the car behaves very well. The matching numbers engine sounds strong, shows good pressure and is a pleasure to drive. This is perhaps in part due to the addition of triple SU carburettors which improve the pick-up and performance greatly. There is lots of history that accompanies this car, most notably, a host of invoices relating to restorative works from 1996 - 2000. More than $30,000 was spent in this period and the result is very pleasing. Most recently, new wire wheels and tyres and been fitted.

Imported from the USA in September of 2012 but with full EU taxes paid, this car has American title and a full UK MoT to February 2014 making it ready for registration.
