This is an excellent example of a genuine UK-supplied, right-hand drive, manual gearbox, 1969 E-Type Series II 2+2 Coupe with only four previous owners.
The 'Jaguar Cars Registration of Ownership Document' shows that Chassis No. IR 35405 was registered as ALX 501H and delivered to Jaguar dealership ' Berkeley Square Garages Ltd', in London on the 1st August 1969. The first owner is listed as 'Muldivo Ltd', of Banner Street, London - a leading UK supplier of calculating machines.
The history file shows that the Jaguar was purchased by Mr B Wadham in May 1978 and there are numerous receipts for routine maintenance and repairs through to January 1996 when the vehicle was acquired by its third owner, Mr P. Thompson. The mileage in January 1996 was 68,645 as recorded on the MoT Certificate so it would appear that between 1999 and 2009 a total of only 5,123 miles were covered, with the MoT history showing a mileage reading of 73,858 in October 2009.
ALX then became the property of its 4th owner, Mr S. Jones of Shrewsbury, who purchased the car in 2009. His intention was to restore the Jaguar and during 2010 the following work was carried out.
Removal of all glass, trim etc.. to bare metal
New bodywork parts fitted including: Rear Plinth / Rear Arches / Rear Quarter Corners / Front Metal Shields
Full preparation and full respray to a very high quality
Re-fitting of all glass and trim
Removal of rear sub-frame, strip, re-paint and fitting of new parts including Brake discs / Brake pads / HandBrake pads / Brake Callipers / Shock absorbers & Springs / Rear Suspension Bushes / Rear Wheel Bearings / Rear Axle Seal
Front Brake and Suspension renewal including Front Wheel Bearings / Front Brake Discs / Front Brake Pads
New ancillary engine accessories including Alternator / Radiator Hoses / Carb Choke Tubes etc..
New Chrome Wire Wheels and Spinners
New Windscreen
Various Chrome trims and a Body Seal Kit
Specialist re-trim of interior leather and headlining
The MoT history from November 2010 (74,112 miles) to April 2018 (75,447 miles) indicates a total mileage of 1,335 miles had been covered over this period. In April 2018 a new MoT, full service and thorough check-over were completed which included:
Removal of rear axle to replace handbrake pads
Re-fit and adjustment of linkage and callipers
New flexible brake hose
New right-hand electric fan motor
Near side and offside ball joint covers
New MoT with no advisories,
The indicated mileage is 75,800 miles and overall the car is in lovely condition, with the paintwork retaining a deep shine, and the leather interior and roof lining in excellent condition. We are told by our vendor that " The oil pressure reading is excellent when both hot and cold. It drives effortlessly with an easy 4-speed gearbox and clutch, it also has excellent steering/suspension. The temperature gauge reading is within the 'Normal' band on both long and short journeys''.
Offered with an MOT until April 2019, issued with no advisories, a great history file, and a Heritage Certificate, this lovely restored 2+2 is offered at a most sensible guide and must be of serious consideration.
