Current bid $1,825, no reserve, 7 bids 5 days left in auction. Car now located in Winchester, Virginia.

Sellers description:
1969 E-type 2+2 When looking for a vintage Jaguar, we often see the seller’s claim, “this is a good candidate for restoration.” Until you have actually restored a Jag, that statement may not mean much to you. What the seller is really trying to say is that the Jag for sale does not have major rust issues. When I first started collecting and restoring Jags, a true Jag-Guru once told me, “Jags are famous for two things – they go really fast and they rust even faster”…… So as a buyer, you really want to start with a Jag that isn’t eaten up with rust.

This 2+2 qualifies as a driver and nice project. I bought it to restore, got it running with very little effort and used it as my daily city driver for the last 2 years. After purchasing an XK-140 project, I am out of space and have to sell the 2+2, and that is why there is no reserve. It has had basic maintenance over the last 2 years, with new master cylinder and brake pads, new tires, some new ignition parts and the usual tune-ups. I don’t see any major issues with the car and any prospective buyer is welcome to run the car up on a lift and speak with the mechanic who maintained it for me. It runs with a strong engine and mechanicals seem fine, but it needs paint and some interior work, and really should be restored. As I said, I drove it through the city, it never even came close to running hot or overheating, so the engine and cooling is fine. The bonnet has some putty in the front, but the underside of the bonnet looks rust-free. Chrome is pretty good, with no dings and just about all the electrics work except the radio.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
