Car returns to ebay 8/16/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1969-Jaguar-XKE-2-2-Fresh-Numbers-Match-Re ...
Current bid $4,050 reserve not met, 8 bids, 5 days left in auction. Still in Louisville, KY. 43k miles.
Sellers description:
I purchased this numbers matching car about 2 years ago as a 43,000 original mile vehicle. Although I have no way to confirm, that looks to be accurate from all outward appearances. As with any seldom used vehicle, it needed attention, leading to a complete rebuild of the 4.2 engine and automatic transmission. I have $5,000.00 in the engine and trans alone. Rebuild by competent Jag professional, not some gas station. Work warranted.
Overall I would say the car is in very good condition. Body is clean and straight with no rust repairs that I can see or know of. Floor pans are solid, wheelwells and door panels good and battery box area clean. Boot area shows no rust.
This car was painted several years ago and its total restoration begun but never finished. It still needs bumpers and wheels rechromed and a headliner. Seats fair to excellent with the driver’s showing the most wear, as is normal. No dash cracks, no missing parts. All electrical components work with exception of the clock. Speedo, tach and fuel gauge work but need calibration. Factory A/C engages but does not blow cold air.
Car starts dependably, rebuilt alternator charges battery properly. This car has no leaks! Oil pressure strong and transmission shifts solidly. This is a solid driver ready for finishing TLC. Unfortunately, my new job requires extensive travel and I have no time to either finish or enjoy it. Rather than have the car sit and deteriorate, I decided to pass it along.
