This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II 2+2 example that was acquired by the current owner in 2009 and is finished in Regency Red over a Biscuit interior. Power comes from a 4.2-liter inline-six mated with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car is equipped with an aftermarket electric sliding sunroof, four-wheel disc brakes, dual Stromberg carburetors, 15” chrome wire wheels, and a JVC stereo. Work in the last four years included replacing the alternator, clutch hydraulic cylinders, and engine mounts. This XKE is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with operator’s handbooks, service records, and a clean California title.

The Series II XKE debuted in 1968 and featured uncovered headlights as well as horizontal taillights below the wrap-around rear bumper. This example was refinished in Regency Red during previous ownership and was fitted with an aftermarket electric steel sunroof.

Chrome 15” wire wheels are secured with knock-off hubs and mounted with 205/70 General Grabber One tires. A full-size spare is found in the cargo area, and stopping power is provided by disc brakes at all four corners. The brake master cylinder was overhauled in 2015.

The cabin was reupholstered in Biscuit vinyl under prior ownership and features matching door panels and carpeting. A JVC stereo is linked with aftermarket speakers found in the center stack and cargo area, and a fire extinguisher is also mounted out back. The seller notes the air conditioning blower only works on the low speed setting.

A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel with an E-Type center cap fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer along with auxiliary gauges in the dash that display readouts for voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 68k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is fitted with dual Stromberg carburetors and sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The alternator and clutch cylinders were replaced in 2018, the engine mounts were replaced in 2017, and a new idler pulley installed in 2016.

An access hole was cut in the floor below the oil filter assembly.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
