This car was released from storage in 2022 after 20 years and I was first to it. As the third owner, I purchased it with the intention of cleaning it up and making it a great driver. About 200 hours over 6 months and several thousand dollars later we are there. Life circumstances prevent me from doing a full restoration but the car is worthy of it. I will likely be selling it. Currently I drive it regularly and assertively to the great joy of the driver and the people who frequently give us the "thumbs-up."

This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II 2+2 was reportedly stored from 1990 until being recommissioned by the prior owner in 2022, with work that involved replacing the clutch, clutch master cylinder, battery, fuel pump, one of the carburetors, manifold gaskets, and coolant hoses. The car has been repainted dark blue over beige vinyl and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ steel wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a cassette radio. This XKE 2+2 was acquired by the seller in 2024 and is now offered with the owner’s manual, a service manual, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in Pale Primrose, the car has been repainted Dark Blue, and exterior equipment includes sealed-beam open headlights, a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets. Replacement chrome tailpipes and door handles were installed in 2022, and the weatherstripping for the hood and doors were replaced in 2024. The seller states that the paint is of poor quality, there are prior repairs below the right front headlight and on the left rear quarter panel, and there is a rust hole in the lower front fender. There are dents on the front bumper, cracks on the rear glass, and areas of corrosion. Rust, bubbling, paint cracks, and other blemishes are visible.
The 15″ steel wheels were mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in 2024. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake fluid was changed and a line was replaced in 2022. The front shocks, ball joints, and suspension bushings were replaced under current ownership and the torsion bars were adjusted.
The 2+2 cabin features seating surfaces that have been reupholstered in beige vinyl along with a color-coordinated center console and door panels. Interior appointments include front shoulder belts, rear lap belts, a Concord AM/FM/cassette radio, Audiovox speakers, and a locking glovebox. Work under current ownership involved rewiring the heater motor and repairing the windshield wiper motor and seat sliders. The seller notes that the dash vinyl should be replaced, the driver’s seat base has been repaired, and the visors and headliner are deteriorated. The carpets are missing, the rear hatch support requires replacement, the windshield wiper switch is loose, and the air conditioning is not functional.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer reads low and the clock is inoperative.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. Following a longterm period of storage, the car was serviced in 2022, and work is said to have included repairing electrical issues, flushing the fuel tank, rebuilding one carburetor, and replacing the other carburetor along with the battery and cables, spark plugs, ignition points, fuel filter, fuel pump, manifold gaskets, and coolant hoses. The right cooling fan is not functional and there are oil leaks.
Engine stamping 7R38263-9 a corresponding number is listed on the chassis plate.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch and master cylinder were reportedly replaced in 2022, at which time the flywheel was resurfaced and the transmission and differential fluids changed. There is a hole in the driver’s floor.
