Ebay item 8/3/05

Current bid $4,550.00 (Reserve not met), 9 bids, 5 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2 w/41K Original Miles". This remarkable piece of Jaguar history has been owned by the dealer for 25 years. It only has 41,173 original miles on it, and he's only put under 200 more on since he's owned it.

Tom was a Jag dealer when he took the car on trade. About 15 years ago he had it painted and returned it to driving condition. He drove it a few times each summer for around five years. Then due to a medical condition and age, he could no longer drive it. Now this Jag's been in a garage, at the dealership for 15 years, and has not been started up in 10 years.

We put in a battery, some gas along with a shot of starting fluid and she started right up. Though it didn't run very well, I put in reverse, backed it up 10 feet and drove forward back into the garage. It stalled twice and restarted both times. We ran the car for a total of 4 minutes, at best.

The interior is original and could use some help. The paint has some scratches but it's in good shape. And the one hood hinge was loose on one side, so the hood needed help closing properly. But all in all, this is a Fantastic Looking Classic -that's great for someone who don't mind fixing her up a bit!

This E is on sale in Germany for asked Price of € 33000,00 This price is definitively too much. The car has got a grey respray of poor quality. To refurbish it to level 2 it will need at least € 15 to 20.000! ! This car has been in two hands since arrival in Germany. At the moment it has mot/tuv and historic registration.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
