Shut lines on doors and hatch are very good. Sheet metal is very solid all around. Bonnet was damaged, repaired and resprayed and the paint has cracked. Car appears very solid from the bottom side. Spare well is solid and rust free. Original tool bag, jack and tools are with the car. Interior trim is in good condition with the seats showing typical wear and weathering. It appears that the voltage regulator and alternator have been recently replaced. It was hard to tell but it appears that there is typical but moderate damage around the battery box, The idler pulley or tensioner pulley in front of the intake side of the engine is broken and needs to be replaced. If not for the respray on the bonnet I would say this car is in remarkably original condition. Tires look to be old and are hard as a rock. Wheels may clean up pretty well but their overall condition was hard to assess with all of the grime. Although the car was alledgedly started recently it would be wise to drain and replace all essential fluids and rebuild the carburators. Rear end is encased in grime and though the car had been sitting in the same spot for more than a week there was very little oil under the engine.

This 1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2 is finished in red over black upholstery and powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was reportedly sold new in Missouri and remained with its original owner for 37 years before relocating in 2007 to California, where it was acquired by the seller in 2011. Subsequent maintenance included rebuilds of the engine, transmission, and carburetors as well as brake, suspension, and cooling system overhauls. Features include chrome-finished Dayton 15″ wire wheels, disc brakes, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an Alpine CD stereo. This Series II coupe is now offered with an owner’s manual, a shop manual, service records for work by the seller, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car was delivered from the factory in Signal Red and is said to have been repainted during prior ownership. The hood was repainted during current ownership, and the seller notes a broken radio antenna, intermittently functioning backup lights, and evidence of earlier paint touch-up on the rear hatch. Close-up photos of the paint and trim can be viewed in the gallery below.

Dayton 15″ chrome-finished wire wheels are secured with earless knock-off hubs and mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, and a spare wheel and tire are located beneath the trunk floor. Both the wheels and tires were purchased in 2012, and additional work performed since 2011 included rebuilding all four brake calipers and replacement of the following:

Brake booster, master cylinder, release valve, all pads and rotors

Ball joints, lower control arm bushings, steering rack boots

Shocks, sway arm bushings, rear trailing arm bushings

The cabin features seating for four trimmed in black upholstery with a matching console and door panels. Equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, hand-crank windows, and an Alpine CD stereo. The seller notes a crack and spots of peeling or separating trim on the dashboard top, a broken pop rivet on the right door card, inoperative air conditioning, and broken switches for the map lights, windshield washer, fan, and rear window defroster. The front seats were re-stuffed and re-covered in 2012, and the center console was reupholstered at the same time.

Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer as well as auxiliary gauges in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows just under 75k miles, approximately 35k of which were added by the seller. A new speedometer cable was installed in September 2020, and total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt in 2019 with bored and honed cylinders, a resurfaced cylinder head, a ground and polished crankshaft, and replacement bearings, piston rings, valves, seals, and gaskets as well as a new timing chain, guide, and tensioner. The twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors were rebuilt in September 2020, and an oil service was performed in December 2020. The seller has also serviced the cooling system, installed an aluminum radiator, and replaced the fuel pump along with several ignition components.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt in 2011. The engine mounts, rear subframe mounts, U-joints, transmission kick-down linkage, and differential stub axle bushings and seals were also replaced along with exhaust components. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists factory specifications and a production date of February 21, 1969.

Service records dating back to 2011 are included in the sale along with an owner’s manual, a Haynes shop manual, and four keys.
