Ebay item 9/26/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-E-TYPE-1969-JAGUAR-XKE-CONVERTIBLE-OTHER-F ...
Current bid $6,766 reserve not met, 20 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
THIS SIX CYL 4 SPEED CONVERTIBLE IS A PLEASURE TO DRIVE. I'VE REPRESENTED A FEW OF THESE CARS BUT ONLY IN THE COUPE VERSION. THE CONVERTIBLE IS DEFINITELY "THE ONE." THIS CAR IS NOT ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. I HAVE TAKEN MANY PHOTOS TO SHOW THE QUALITY OF THIS ONE. I DROVE THIS CAR APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES AND IT DRIVES VERY WELL. THE FAULTS ARE AS FOLLOWS: OUR CLIENT SAID THAT THE SPEEDOMETER BROKE ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO AND THEY APPROXIMATE MILEAGE TO BE AN ADDITIONAL 6,000 TO 7,000 MILES; ALL OTHER GUAGES WORK PERFECTLY. THERE IS A CRACK IN DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD; I HAVE ONE LOCATED FOR $850 INSTALLED, IF YOU DESIRE, IN ADDITION TO YOUR BID. ONE FRONT BREAK CALIPER GRABS QUICKER THAN THE OTHER. RADIO DOES NOT WORK. THERE IS SOME BUBBLING OF THE PAINT ON THE ROCKER PANELS. BUT THE CAR IS EXTREMELY SOLID IN EVERY WAY. NO RUST IN FLOORS OR BONNET OR BOOT. THE ENGINE RUNS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. AND THE MOST PLEASANT SURPRISE OF ALL: ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING. THE CONVERTIBLE TOP HAS TWO SLIGHT PINCH MARKS AS SHOWN BY MY FINGER IN THE PICTURE. IT IS REALLY OF NO CONSEQUENCE. ALL FOUR WIRE WHEELS SHOW FLAKING CHROME ON HUBS BEHIND SPOKES. TIRES ARE 90%. THE INTERIOR OF THIS CAR APPEARS TO BE ALL ORIGINAL AND IN VERY NICE CONDITION; LEATHER IS SOFT AND PLYABLE; CARPETS APPEAR TO BE ORIGINAL, AS ARE THE DOOR PANELS. AGAIN, THIS IS NOT A PERFECT CAR, BUT A VERY NICE EXAMPLE OF THIS INCREASINGLY DESIRABLE MOTOR CAR.

Your decode indicates a 2+2 ,yet the pics show a convertible. Is the long door the clue to a converted coupe to roadster? Thanks

Dean, the fenders are also flared and nearly all appears to be an S3 car except under the bonnet. It's most certainly a modified 2+2 but more mods than that have happened here. There are several other converted 2+2 cars on the site, it wasn't an unusual modification.

Thanks Paul, I think it is misleading for the seller not to mention the conversion from coupe to convert. Some buyer may be very disappointed. Thanks for your decode help. Dean

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
