    I’ve wanted an E since I was a kid. This 2+2 was gifted to me from legendary car builder, Bob Cecchini from Hayward, CA. Bob bought this car as a gift for his wife. He purchased it from his neighbor who just had the engine rebuilt at a cost of $6K. To make it the perfect present, the car was stripped to bare metal, all mechanical systems were scrutinized, and parts and systems were replaced/repaired as needed. The interior is all new. After the car was completed, the keys were handed over to the missus. The story continues that she had a difficult time using the clutch while maneuvering the winding and hilly streets around where their home is located. After a few years and more than a couple of attempts at shifting/clutching (and not smiling) the car sat virtually unused, with just the occasional drive. It was time for the E to go, and go it did … to me (insert big grin here).

    I plan to drive it, tinker with it, drive it, and drive it some more. (insert another big grin here)

    Then there's the neatening up of the wiring, and other tweaking things here and there. Having fun is an understatement.

    Some more fiddling about since I last commented -

    I added a few pictures to this data base.

    Some further paint touch-up in engine area. I replaced the standard rear brake light bulbs with red strobe LEDs. These bulbs immediately strobe three times then remain lit for as long as the brake pedal is depressed. Great attention getter for those behind you in traffic. Re-wired feed to radio via (unused) dash toggle switch and installed a momentary switch for the power antenna- the radio turned on as soon as the car was started and antenna would rise with it. This I found annoying since I rarely, if ever, use the radio. I Installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge in the engine compartment because I questioned the accuracy of the oil pressure sender unit and/or dash gauge. Mechanical gauge showed fantastic oil pressure even when engine is hot. Oil/Filter change @ 62718 miles. Installed a mini indicator light for on/off status of fans during vehicle operation. I replaced the anti-roll bar "D" bushings (2) and the anti-roll bar link bushings (4).

    New tires and new MWS 6" wire wheels (from SNGB). Replaced the KUMHO 205 65r tires (Discount Tires return policy is fantastic) with KUMHO 195 65r tires and had the car aligned. While wheels were off, I greased front and rear hubs and all zerk fittings.

    Although working perfectly, I replaced one fan motor (non OEM) with an NOS OEM fan motor that was given to me by a friend who had many left-over parts from when he owned a '70 OTS. As a matter of note, he generously gave everything he had to me, including relays, switches, starter motor, OEM Jack and hammer, and more.

    While I was replacing the fan motor, I chemically stripped the fan brackets and shroud, and painted them. Looks nice.
