Ebay item 12/31/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-ORIGINAL-CALIFORNIA-RUST-FREE-BARN-FIND-GARAGED-NOT ...
Current bid $6,000 reserve not met, 5 bids 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
West Coast Classics are proud to present an extraordinarily rare and completely rust free genuine 'barn find' example of this coveted original southern California 1970 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series II 2+2 coupe with a highly desirable 4 speed manual transmission and with it's original matching #'s 6 cylinder 4.2L/246HP engine with twin cooling fans and with a tan interior and factory air conditioning!
The car is reported to have only some 65K original miles by its previous long time owner who purchased the car in 1981 from its original southern California owner and who had stored it in his dry southern California enclosed garage since 1982 when it was last driven and registered with California DMV. We recently purchased the car from this second southern California owner and have only cleaned it and moved it into our storage facility until sold. As previously stated, the car had not been running since 1982 and will be sold 'as is' requiring TLC and unknown mechanical work although please note that importantly we have fired up and started the engine and it seems to run good with no knocking sounds or valve noise.
The floor boards and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free! The car has no signs of any accidents of any kind and has a razor straight body with what seems to be its original paint. It's original factory 'Sable' color paint has some light scratches and imperfections from its years spent 'unattended' in the garage and the car's interior is still quite impressive and seemingly very original apart from the two front seats which have been covered in vinyl but all the door panels, headliner, dashboard and carpets seem all quite original and in very presentable condition throughout. Please note the car also has it's original spare wheel in the trunk.
This is therefore an extremely rare opportunity for the Jaguar or British classic sports car enthusiast who is looking to buy a great and mostly all original and unrestored rust free example of an original southern California 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II 4.2L 2+2 coupe with the highly desirable 4 speed manual transmission ~ a great potential project for the enthusiast to restore for daily driving or to go all the way to its former glory!
