Car to be at auction 1/14

Auction description:
Lot 148
1968 Jaguar E-Type 4.2-Liter Series II Roadster
US$ 80,000 - 100,000
€58,000 - 73,000
Chassis no. 1R 7088
Engine no. 7R 1208-9
*Long history of California ownership
*Matching numbers example
*Originally delivered to California
*Sparingly driven in recent years
*Recent paint and brand new interior
Built on August 14, 1968 according to factory records, this charming E-Type Open Two Seater was dispatched just over one month later to Jaguar Cars, New York, eventually finding its first owner out West, a Mr. Edwin Gabay of Glendale, California. It appears the Jaguar remained on the West Coast; its prior owner, of Big Bear, California, acquired the car in 1998 and was under the impression he was only the car's third owner. Apparently a garage queen for many years, the Jaguar has been driven sparingly since then.
Originally finished in Daimler Silver Grey over black upholstery with a matching black top, this left-hand-drive Roadster is understood to have had its engine and drivetrain rebuilt during 1997-1998 and has seen few miles since. The matching numbers engine is reportedly the high-compression European-spec version with the gold head and triple SU carburetors in place of (American spec) twin Strombergs.
In recent years, the Jaguar was finished in the period-correct shade of primrose yellow that it currently wears, and a new black leather interior has just been installed. Offered with a tool kit and an extensive file of receipts documenting its restoration, this lovely Series II E-Type is an attractive example of the breed, boasting a long history of California ownership.

Beautiful Matching Numbers California Car
“Heritage Certificate” Included
Car shows 20,301 miles
Documented Detailed Restoration including Paint, Interior, Engine / Drive-train, Carburetors, Clutch, Engine Bay Electrical / Mechanicals', Suspension, Shocks, Bumpers, Trunk, Top, Gas Tank, Misc. Electrical/', etc. etc. Work done by Nationally known Jaguar Restoration shops including XK’s Unlimited in California.
The 1969 SR II 4.2 LITER E-TYPE BEING OFFERED------ is a BEAUTIFUL Pale Primrose / Black OTS Roadster. The restoration was done to a show / driver level car; built for reliability with many upgrades/enhancements as defined below. The mechanical restoration, done by XK’s Unlimited, was done first, and then followed by a cosmetic restoration within the last five years. The car has been driven very few miles since the restoration was completed; this is apparent in the photos. The speedometer shows only 20,301 miles. This is not confirmed but it is known that it was driven very little the last 25=30 years. This E-type is guaranteed to be a crowd pleasure at any classic car show, or main street you drive through. A Heritage Certificate, from Jaguar Corporation is included with the car as confirmation that the car is a “Number’s Matching” car.
I've been collecting and restoring classic Jaguars for 45 years, including competing in concours shows at a national level. With that said, I feel very confident that my descriptions below will give you an accurate accounting of the condition of the car. My personal website will show you the caliber of my collection; some of them are national concours winners. Following is the link to my website: https://seepictures. wixsite. com/genesgarage.
· PAINT --- No chips or dents on nose, doors, etc. New paint including Trunk and Engine Bay (powder coated sub-frame). New rubber seals. Show quality paint job.
· BODY SHEET METAL --- Body is straight, and panels all fit well; as good or better than factory specs.
· INTERIOR --- New interior per original Jaguar specifications. The work included the Seats, Door panels, Hardura material behind the seats, Carpeting, Dash panel, Seat belts, etc. etc. There is a small opening with a cover on it behind each seat where speakers were once mounted-cant be seen unless seat backs are forward.
· ENGINE/ENGINE BAY --- Restoration included Engine/Drive-train, Upgraded Triple SU Carburetors, Suspension, Transmission, Clutch, Misc. Electrical / Mechanical Components Rebuilt or Replaced new, etc. (i.e. water-pump, heater fan motor, hose kit, fan belt, shocks, suspension, etc.). Engine upgraded with Triple SU Carbs, for Enhanced Performance, Upgraded Cooling Fans, and Oil filter Adapter Kit. Engine Bay is very clean and detailed for show; not concours but very respectable. Engine/engine bay mechanical work done by XK’s Unlimited in CA-----one of the top Jaguar restoration shops in the US.
· TRUNK --- New Trunk Kit (correct Hardura Mat and Side Panels), New Jack (upgrade) / Jack Bag, etc. Gas tank cleaned/repainted. New Trunk Plywood panels, etc.
· WHEELS/TIRES --- Replaced at one time. They aren’t perfect but look very nice as seen in the photos.
· CONVERTIBLE TOP --- Recently replaced NEW with upgraded Stay-fast material. Top Frame completely restored in correct factory color. It looks FANTASTIC.
· EXHAUST --- Stainless-Steel Exhaust. Great condition.
· GLASS --- Windshield looks to be original so has some minor wear.
· CHROME --- Some new or re-plated including new polished SS bumpers and over-riders. What is original shows minor wear.
· ELECTRICAL --- Misc Electrical / Mechanicals replaced new or rebuilt throughout the car. Clock may not work
· BRAKES --- Rebuilt or replaced new --- Master cylinder, Calipers, Brake lines, etc.
There are many other new or rebuilt items which one usually does during the process of a major restoration at this level ---- fasteners, misc. rubber bushings (i.e. steering, etc.), seals, tubing, gaskets, hoses, grommets, light lenses, elec switches / relays, belts, labels, hose clamps, misc. hardware, filters, battery, etc. etc.
The above defined restoration work is well documented.
EXTRAS/UPGRADES
· Enhanced Triple SU Carburetor/Intake system for improved performance
· Oil Filter Adapter to allow you use modern easy screw on/off oil filters
· Upgraded Cooling Fans for further improved cooling
· Upgraded Audio System including connector for IPods’, etc. - Retro-Sound Radio

The car runs out well, and also brakes well. It also feels good going down the road in terms of handling; very tight. The engine sounds great, VERY quiet; no unusual engine noises and it accelerates well. The car is ready day-one to drive and enjoy and take to your favorite car show or club event.
