On offer here is a Series II E-Type finished in the timeless combination of Silver Grey with black interior. It is also one of the best restorations to factory specification that is ever likely to come to the market unused. It was the personal project of well-renowned restorer who wished to execute the most exacting rebuild for himself with the knowledge gained from several previous customer build examples. The result is truly stunning with a depth that could only be achieved by a craftsman with aspirations of lifetime ownership.

Originally supplied to American businessman and financier, Saul Steinberg, founder of Leasco and best remembered for his attempted takeover of Walt Disney Productions in 1984 and his gift of Rubens's 1614 masterpiece, 'Death of Adonis' to the Israel Museum.

This E-Type had been in the possession of our restorer since 2004, but the restoration was only completed in 2011. This most comprehensive of restorations took approximately two years to arrive at the standard we see today. The history file contains a complete record of the in-house restoration. The interior is by Suffolk and Turley, the world-class Jaguar trim specialists. It has recently had a final engine tune and the geometry checked together with an MoT. Also accompanying the car is the original jack, a wheel spinner tool and hide hammer.

Car to return to auction 7/15
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 165 - 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster
Estimate: £80,000 - £90,000
Registration Number: UK Registered
Chassis Number: IR8188

This series 2 E-Type roadster started off life in New York, being originally purchased by Leasco as Saul Steinberg's personal car.

Saul Steinberg was an American financier and businessman, and the founder of Leasco. He started a computer leasing company which he used in the audacious and successful takeover of the much larger Reliance Insurance Company in 1968. He was best known for his unsuccessful attempts to take over Chemical Bank and Walt Disney Productions in 1984.
This particular E-Type has been meticulously restored by Lee Scott as his own vehicle.

The shell was completely stripped and rebuilt to a new shell standard. Mr Scott has been professionally restoring classic cars for nearly thirty years now, starting with an apprenticeship with a Rolls Royce specialist, and in 1995 starting Lee Scott Restorations, specialising in Jaguar.

He has had many features in Jaguar World magazine and completed several project cars for this as well as other magazines. The body was then painted back to its original opalescent silver using the original jaguar factory paint scheme. The engine has been fully refurbished as has the gearbox and differential.

The car has been built to European specification and thus is currently running the superior triple SU carburettor set up, which have also been rebuilt. The braking system has been fully replaced with all new parts, and the car has five new MWS wire wheels with all new tyres, all of which has covered under 10 miles.
The interior has also been fully restored to a very high standard using the world renowned Mick Turley formally of Suffolk and Turley.

This vehicle comes with a full photographic history of its restoration, as well as a folder with all the original invoices for what has been spent on it, a current MoT and UK V5 registration papers. One of the best examples in the UK, the quality of work must been seen to be appreciated.

Car now offered at:

Age: 1969
Series: II
Transmission: Manual

Here we have another stunningly restored E-Type for sale.

The car has been restored by Lee Scott, Lee has served a 5 year apprentice ship with a Rolls Royce and Bentley specialist starting in 1988, restoring pre and post war vehicles for many a well known client. After finishing his apprenticeship he carried on working there for a further 2 years before starting up his own business in 1995. He carried on restoring cars for the same company for a further 2 years, in the meantime building up his own clientele and carrying out fabrication work for many other car restorers on pre war and classic vehicles. He has restored many other cars including several that have been featured in JAGUAR WORLD magazine and many other main stream publications. Lee Scott Restoration's is now a well established company, which has enabled the company to work for a few well known customers within the old car world. Lee, and his team, including his son, Oliver have a full order book for the next 8-9 months. Soon Lee's workshops will also be seen on a mainstream TV classic car program in 2015.

'E' Type Series 2 Roadster The car came into Lee's workshop for a full restoration in 2003. In 2005 after chasing the owner to get the car done He ended up buying it from himself, as clearly it was a much bigger restoration than he had envisaged, when he imported the car from America. Not a lot of work had been done at that point, due to the then owners lack of funds. The car was badly painted red when it arrived from America. Lee spent the next 2 years restoring the body back to brand new shell, including new front frames from E Type Fabs, new floors, inner outer sills, New wings boot floor and many panels, including door skins, new bonnet under belly pan, the shell was sand blasted and when all the panel work was completed, it was painted back to its original Silver. Fitting back together was carried out over the next 5 years, with all components reconditioned and new parts fitted when required. Suspension and other parts where powder coated. New chrome plating, new rear springs new shocks all round, and all new braking system. Rebuilt gearbox, rebuilt engine. Mick Turley interior and everything else that was needed was brand new. The car was then registered for the first time in this country.
