This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster was completed on January 9, 1969 and initially delivered to British Leyland Motor of New York before being acquired by the Oklahoma-based original owner. It was exported to Canada from the US by a previous owner and underwent a refurbishment from the late 1990s through the mid-2000s. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six with triple SU carburetors mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a differential with 3.07:1 gearing. The car has been repainted dark red with a black soft top over black leather upholstery, and additional features include air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, a louvered hood, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15” knock-off wire wheels. This XKE was acquired by the seller around nine years ago and is now offered with a service manual, a car cover, a copy of a Production Record Trace certificate, spare parts, and British Columbia registration in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Opalescent Silver Grey paintwork, the body was repainted its current shade of dark red during previous ownership. The brightwork was reportedly refinished in 2007, and exterior details include a black soft top, a louvered hood, and twin central exhaust outlets. The seller notes an imperfect fitment of the soft top on the passenger side.
Bright-finished 15” wire wheels are secured by knock-off spinners. Braking is via four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears. The suspension was reportedly refurbished during previous ownership, and additional work is said to have included replacing the steering rack, primary brake cylinder, ball joints, and brake pads.
The cabin houses bucket seats trimmed in black leather with a matching dashboard, door panels, and color-keyed carpets. Amenities consist of an under-dash air conditioner, a push-button AM/FM radio, a central arm rest, and lap belts for both occupants. Fraying, stains, and tears are present on the soft top headliner. The toggle switch for the interior lights is broken.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 6k-rpm tachometer, auxiliary displays, and a replacement 160-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 7k miles, around 300 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. The warning light for the parking brake is said to flicker. The removed speedometer is included in the sale and can be seen in the gallery below.
The 4.2-liter inline-six reportedly underwent a rebuild between 1999 and 2000, during which time it was fitted with triple SU carburetors. A replacement fuel tank and pump were also said to have been installed by the previous owner along with a re-cored radiator and a Lucas alternator.
The four-speed manual gearbox is reported to have been fitted with replacement synchros, bearings, and seals during previous ownership, while the differential was rebuilt and fitted with 3.07:1 gears. Additional underbody images are provided in the gallery below.
A copy of the Production Record Trace certificate shows the factory colors, identification numbers, and production and dispatch dates.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a country and province that does not issue titles for road vehicles. It is being sold with its British Columbia registration.
