Ebay item 8/1/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-OTS-1969-Jaguar-E-Type-OTS-Roadster-61 ...
Current bid $9,100 reserve not met, 5 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Remarkably original, 61,000 documented original mile, all numbers matching, rust free, always California owned 1969 Jaguar XKE 4.2L Roadster, finished in its original Regency Red over Black Leather interior. This car is spectacular to say the least.

As I have tried my best to illustrate in the photographs, the car is in exquisite condition. The paint is wonderful, retaining astonishing depth and luster, marred only by minor imperfections. Through the record of the previous owners, the review of the cars documentation, and my personal opinion, I believe the paint to be original. The chrome is original and nearly flawless. The original wire wheels, free of pitting, chipping, or fading, are the best indicator of how well this car was cared for by never being exposed to the elements. The windshield wipers are off the car (but will be included with the car) because it is only driven in perfect weather. The interior of the Jag is also superb. The leather seats are nearly flawless, with no creasing, wearing, tears, etc. The car comes complete with its original boot cover as well as a full tonneau cover. The aftermarket radio/cd player works perfect, and the Jaguar radio will also be included with the sale.

The story on the cars original Southern California owner helps explain why the car is in the condition it is with the low original miles it has. He was the Vice President of Honeybaked Ham Co. and received this car as a gift through the company. He had an incredible home in a rural part of Southern California where his passion and hobby was to collect vintage farm and tractor equipment and store it in his beautiful barn/showroom. A long story short, he loved the Jaguar, but had many cars and was more in love with his tractor hobby. The Jag was then stored in this barn, driven very sparingly but always maintained because he new how to take care of his belongings, until he sold the Roadster in the late 80’s, essentially as if it had just come off the showroom floor at the Jaguar dealership.

This XKE is a mechanical wonder. I have driven at least 20 of these 4.2L cars over the years, and I have yet to get behind the wheel of one that has the power and the response and tightness of this car. Documented with extensive service history, this car has always received preventative maintenance and kept to the highest standard. A previous owner made the very expensive Weber carburetor conversion with a new manifold, which as all mechanically inclined Jag enthusiasts know, makes all the difference in the world. The original carburetors that are still setup with the original manifold come complete with the car, along with the original US knock-offs, original air filter, original Jaguar owners manual, Jaguar service manual, Jaguar literature, records, Jaguar radio, etc.

1969 jaguar xk etype with just 10,800 miles.
This car was mildly restored in 1989-90 repainted factory color. Car has only had 500 miles put on it since then and those were all done in 1990. It has been in a deep storage since then. We acquired it through a trade deal car needed the whole fuel system cleaned fuel tank boiled and fittings and fuel pump changed out, carbs rebuilt. with some fresh gas and new fluids she came right back to life. Car is very very solid. Car runs and drives good but before any major trips would spend time doing a couple of short trips around town to blow the dust off. And make sure everything is up to snuff. everything on the car looks to be driver quality, nothing on the car is show quality. But keep in mind if this was a perfect car it would be 90,000 dollars. I am a small dealer in northern il. Car is located at 8020 north second street Machesney park il 61115 4.2 liter straight six cylinder motor with all of its factory sheet metal and original spare tire and hammer this car is straight and is a true collectors item.

August 30, 2014 auction
Lot 341 - 1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series II Roadster
Registration NNB 259G
Chassis Number 1R8948
Odometer reading 11,000 miles
Estimate £48,000 - £55,000

This lefthand drive Primrose yellow E-type Series II presents in very good condition and we are advised drives exceedingly well. The interior is in good order as is the paintwork and underside of the car. Clearly this is a much loved and cared for example that has benefitted from spending most of its life in a dry environment. The 4.2 litre engine runs well and the gearbox functions smoothly and quietly. With all the attention that E-Types have had in recent months, this 1969 Series II is not only a splendid looking vehicle, it is very much 'on the button' and ready to be enjoyed by a new owner. Supplied with a V5 registration document.

More detail from auction listing:
Estimate (£): 45,000 - 50,000
This Series II 4.2 Roadster is one of just 8,628 produced which feature open headlights, a wraparound rear bumper, repositioned larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers. It was also better cooled by its enlarged 'mouth' and twin electric fans and also featured better brakes.

Originally delivered to the USA, this particular example has spent most of its life on the other side of the pond until being repatriated to UK shores earlier this year. Whilst in America it was owned by just one gentleman from 1987 until his passing early this year, after which the car was purchased by our vendor from his estate sale.

For much of its stateside ownership the car was much coveted but rarely used and in the final years was subject to a complete strip down and sympathetic restoration by its long-term owner to retain the cars fantastic original condition. Unfortunately in the very final stages of the car's restoration the previous owner fell ill and passed away and the cars rebuild was never fully finished.

Our vendor on receipt of the car set about the final stages of the restoration, which entailed fitment of a new fuel tank and fuel lines and refurbishment of the brakes. Several other finishing touches were completed such as the re-foaming of the original seats and a general tune up and service of the engine.

When the car was sold via the deceased estate sale in the USA unfortunately all documentation of the car and evidence of the rebuild was lost. As such the car is presented with a copy of the US Title document showing the long term ownership, invoices of work undertaken whilst in the UK, a current MoT showing no advisories and a UK V5C document.

This lovely matching numbers E Type has an interesting history. Originally supplied in the USA it was purchased from Exotic Cars of Illinois by its last US owner in the 1980s. Fully restored in its original colour scheme in the 90s, the car was then carefully stored until being imported to the UK last year.

In excellent condition throughout, the car is in original US spec with the exception of the side repeaters. Complete with a Heritage Certificate and a letter from the previous owner verifying the car's history and mileage.

Lot 50

1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Roadster

Estimate: £70,000 - £80,000

Registration No:NNB259G

Chassis No:1R8948

MOT:April 2019

With just 11,802 miles to its name, this 50 year-old matching numbers E-Type is barely run in! It started life as a lefthand drive export model that was dispatched to British Leyland New York on May 3, 1969 and was finished in Primrose Yellow teamed with contrasting Black interior trim and hood - ie the same livery in which the car is very smartly presented today. It was repatriated to the UK in 2014 and at some stage has benefited from having its power-strangling Stromberg carburettors replaced by a trio of UK specification SUs, and the steering wheel moved from left to right. Among the accompanying documents is a letter from the Illinois-based keeper who retained the Jaguar from 1986 to 2014, which details his tenure; including the long periods of storage that account for the car's abnormally low mileage. Also included in the sale are: a hard top that's been both repainted and retrimmed; heritage certificate; reproduction handbook and workshop manual; V5C; and collection of invoices. Clearly the subject of ongoing maintenance over time, 'NNB 259G' boasts a previously retrimmed interior; brake and suspension overhaul, including new bushes; and new mohair hood, exhaust system and Michelin tyres. The Jaguar was also repainted as recently as last year.
