Ebay item 8/26/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-1969-Jaguar-XKE-Roadster-Series-1-1-2- ...
Opening bid $12,000 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction. 53k miles.
Sellers description:
1969 JAGUAR XKE ROADSTER, SERIES 1 1/2, FOUR SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION, 4.2 LITER, CONVERTIBLE. THE CAR WAS LICENSED AND RUNNING AND DRIVING 7 YEARS AGO WHEN IT WAS PARKED IN A DRY GARAGE. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 53,000 ORIGINAL MILES. NEEDS RESTORATION BUT IS A SOLID EXAMPLE. THE BODY, FRAME AND TRUNK AREA ARE SOLID. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOORS HAVE RUST. THERE IS SOME OTHER RUST IN THE USUAL JAGUAR PLACES BUT THE FRAME AND UPPER BODY HAVE ONLY SURFACE RUST. THE CAR IS COMPLETE. BODY IS VERY STRAIGHT. ORIGINAL PAINT SO YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO PREVIOUS REPAIR. EVERYTHING IS THERE (GLASS, RADIO, TRIM, CHROME, SPARE TIRE, ENGINE PARTS) EXCEPT FOR THE TOOL KIT. I HAVE SOME BOOKS, MAGAZINES, ETC THAT WILL GO WITH THE CAR.
THE SEATS AND INTERIOR APPOLSTERY OF THE CAR ARE IN POOR CONDITION. GLASS IS IN GOOD SHAPE. SOFT TOP IS ALSO IN GOOD SHAPE WITH NO TEARS (REPLACED WITH THE CORRECT TOP ~ 12 YEARS AGO). CHROME IS IN FAIR TO GOOD CONDITION. SEATS ARE TORN IN THE SEAMS AND VERY DRY. INTERIOR SHOULD BE REPLACED.
MECHANICALLY THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING. IT IS A MATCHING NUMBERS CAR. ENGINE HAS NEVER BEEN TAKEN APART BUT ROTATES. HAS TWO ORIGINAL CARBS. BRAKES ARE WORKING BUT SHOULD BE GONE OVER.
THIS CAR WAS OWNED BY THE SAME OWNER WHO DROVE IT AND PARKED IT IN A GARAGE FOR 20 YEARS BEFORE I ACQUIRED IT. I WAS GOING TO DO A PARTIAL RESTORATION BUT I HAVE JUST TAKEN A NEW JOB THAT WOULD REQUIRE ME TO MOVE 1100 MILES AND HAVE LITTLE TIME TO DO THE WORK.

Auction description:
This Type E Series 2 is of American origin and has all its concordant numbers, engine (7R5579-8), box (KE6116) and hull (AR3685). The body has been restored but its color is not the original yellow. The same goes for the interior, which today displays a red leather upholstery in very good condition, although it was originally black. The hood and its mechanism are in very good condition. The engine numbers (7R5579-8, bolt No. FG495, deck nr. E69 242C) and gearbox (KE6116) are in accordance but the exhaust manifold is not original. The floor is new. The chrome rims and hubcaps are in very good condition shod with old tires (about 20 years old). It is rare to meet a type E with matching numbers in a state of presentation as exceptional. Do not miss it if you are amateur.
