Car offered at:
www.oakfields.com/
Sellers description:
This exceptionally original E Type has only had two owners up until 2004. Mann Eggerton of Norwich originally supplied the car to a local solicitor who part exchanged the car back to them for a new XJS in 1975 when it had covered 17000 miles.
The second owner from Cambridge had the car for the next 29 years but only added another 20000 miles to the car overall mileage. It was never used in the winter or extremely wet conditions, he maintained the car through his father’s garage in Norwich.
The third owner purchased the car in September 2004 and had a bare metal repaint carried out on the car along with some very careful detail work, the emphasis being on keeping the car as original as possible.
We have the original handbook, lubrication chart and wallet along with the second owners original invoice for £2,600.

Car to be at H&H auction 9/06
www.classicauctions.co.uk/car_search_index.html
Auction description:
Finished in primrose yellow with black leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very good" overall condition. Said to have been "originally supplied by Mann Egerton (Norwich) to a local solicitor who part exchanged it against a new XJS in early 1975 at 17,000 miles", 'XCL240L' was subsequently sold to Chris Evans during April that year by his friend prestige car dealer Richard Keeley (the latter acting on behalf of the Stratton Motor Company, Norfolk). The mileage at the time was reportedly 17,800. Remaining in Mr Evans's possession for a remarkable twenty-nine years, the E-type was a regular concours entrant at Norfolk Jaguar Drivers' Club meetings during the mid / late 1970s (Mr Evans attributing its string of second places to a lack of judge-pleasing wire wheels!). Relocating to Cambridge in 1981, 'XCL240L' was principally maintained by Mr Evans or his garage-owning father. Over time, they were responsible for the installation of the following new components: brass header tank, water pump, soft-top, uprated radiator, automatic gearbox oil seals, Koni Shock absorbers, rear suspension mounting rubbers, Lucas coil and stainless-steel exhaust. Additionally treated to regular oil / anti-freeze / brake fluid changes as well as new pads etc and frequent greasing, the Jaguar had covered just 47,000 miles from new (current odometer reading 47,854) by the time Mr Evans finally relinquished it in late 2004. An extremely well-preserved V12 Roadster, 'XCL240L' is offered for sale with history file (including 'Statement of Authenticity' from Mr Evans), MOT certificate valid until June 2007 and historic class (free) road tax until August 2007.
