    Ebay item 10/9/05
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1971-JAGUAR-E-TYPE-ROADSTER-29K-MI-ALL-ORI ...
    Current bid $13,601.00 (Reserve not met) ,8 bids, 9 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
    1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III Convertible, British Racing Green with a biscuit leather interior, tan top, and automatic transmission. This is an all-original, two owner car, with only 29,000 miles traveled since new. The current owner has been a collector for several decades, and always keeps his cars garaged and protected. This Jaguar is no exception to that rule.

    1971 marked the introduction of the silky smooth 5.3 liter, 60 degree V-12 engine with 314 horsepower and 0-60mph time of 6.8 seconds. It was designed to challenge contemporary Ferraris and Maseratis in performance and driveability, and was considered to have succeeded in this mission. The 1971 OTS (open two seater) was also the first E-Type offered with an automatic transmission and power assisted steering.

    Some highlights of the Series III, V-12 engined car being offered here:
    * 314 horsepower V-12 engine
    * 29,000 original miles
    * Original wire wheels
    * New exhaust system
    * New Pirelli P77 whitewall tires all around
    * Recently repainted in original British Racing Green
    * No rust
    * Roadster #72 produced for 1971, built in August of 1970
    * Only 7,990 Series III roadsters built, 1971-75

    The car is equipped with factory air conditioning, however it no longer blows cold. The leather interior is not torn. The top is in very good shape, with a clean, clear plastic rear window. And the chrome is in very good to excellent condition. This car is a good, solid Sunday driver as it is. With a little bit of extra care and attention, it could easily be a trophy winner.

    The E-Type is a significant part of motoring history. This is an incredible opportunity to own an extremely low mileage, all original Jaguar XKE convertible. Gentlemen, start your bidding engines!

    "Excellent Original" comes closest since engine and body are in excellent original shape (paint believed original), no restoration ever done or needed (documented original mileage of 29848 mls as per Title). Wonderfully kept by last owner (thanks, Peter!) who replaced tired parts (such as bushings) with top quality spare parts only. Underwent a thorough clean-up and tune-up by Jaguar wizard Terry Lippincott of Sinking Spring, PA, who masterfully brought the car to its current standard (top and interior replaced, all hoses and fluids replaced, rebuild of several sensitive parts such as water and fuel pumps etc., including some sensible upgrades such as aluminum radiator, electronic ignition, e.g.). Currently looked after by Swiss Classic Jaguar guru Georg Doenni.
    True grand tourer as originally intended to be and used regularly for extended motoring tours of several hundred kms each all over Europe. Completely reliable in all situations (incl. Italy's August heat with a/c running!) and a joy to drive.

    The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

    What disease did Lucas succumb to?
