This 1972 Jaguar XKE Roadster is an excellent original matching numbers car with two tops, automatic transmission, and air conditioning. Red with tan interior. A very solid and honest example that could use mechanical commissioning at this point as the motor is seized. A great buy at just $46,500

Car to be at auction 8/22
silverstoneauctions.com/sa080-lot-18920-1972-jaguar-e-type-series-3-v12-roadster&pn=0&pp=0
Auction description:
Lot Number 503
Registration Number FHH 609K
Chassis Number 1S20254B
Engine Number 7S6449SB
Body Colour Red
This left-hand drive, Series 3, automatic gearbox, V12 E-Type was purchased by our vendor in January 2021, having been imported into the UK in 2019 from Astoria in New York State.
Prior to its arrival on these shores, it had enjoyed a fresh coat of Signal Red which still presents well. The Beige leather interior appears sound, although the seats are becoming a little tired and would benefit from a clean and a feed. The engine bay is tidy and the chrome wire wheels look excellent, however, it does not have its hardtop anymore.
With just over 50,000 miles on the odometer, the Jaguar has recently been serviced it is running well. Good history file and handbooks etc. This is a very good looking car and a little detailing would take it to the next level.

Country United Kingdom
Recent high quality respray in original red
Believed two-keeper car from new
Well preserved car with original interior
In good structural and mechanical order
Part of a high end classic car collection
Very early Series III LHD OTS
The History and Paperwork
First registered in 1972
VIN records show this is car 249 of the run of LHD OTS Series 3 cars
85th LHD OTS car built in 1972 of 1,519 built that year
Reported to have had one registered keeper in USA before vendor acquired it
Imported to the UK in November 2019
One registered keeper since returning to the UK
Part of a high end classic car collection
Showing 50,468 miles which is believed to be correct
The Condition
Full bare metal respray in red completed since 2019
Remains in very good condition across paintwork with few signs of use
Very minor marks to note such as chip to front valance under grille
Bodywork presents very well with very good, flush panel fit particularly to doors
Sills, arches, panel edges and under-bonnet metalwork all in very good order
Chromework complete and with bright finish and remote-operation door mirror
Retains its Federal light specification with side marker lights to each corner
Sits on chrome wire wheels with ‘classic’ specification tyres, all well kept #
Black vinyl roof in generally presentable and serviceable condition
There are light creases to the roof and some deterioration to screen stitching to note
Roof headlining has light staining but not unsightly
Underside in good order with evidence of undersealing and only light paint flake visible
Classic fluted exhaust tailpipe fitted
Beige leather interior in what appears to be original, unrestored condition
Cabin presents very well with light patina of age such as to seat bases
Fitted with air conditioning and period radio cassette player
Switchgear and trim well presented with good decals and clear dials
Three-spoke leather-rimmed factory steering wheel
The current keeper - a high-end collector - acquired this car in the USA from its first keeper in 2019. He has sympathetically retained the originality whilst rectifying the paintwork condition with a full professional respray. The result is a car that is in very good structural condition but with the gentle patina of its low-owner history.
It retains the early Series III features like the fluted exhaust tailpipe. Inside there is USA-specification and air conditioning and a period radio cassette. This is a lovely, characterful car that is ready to enjoy.
The Mechanics
5,344cc V12 Jaguar engine developing around 285bhp
Four SU carburettors as per factory specification
3spd automatic gearbox
Tidy engine bay
No reported running or driving issues
Part of a high end classic car collection and maintained accordingly
The combination of Jaguar’s super-smooth V12 and an automatic gearbox delivers a car that leans into the relaxing, unruffled theme associated with the marque. This car appears to be a low mileage car and is supplied with no known running or driving issues. As part of a classic car collection it has been maintained and serviced accordingly, the photographs of the engine bay indicating this attention.
