    Ebay item 10/28/08
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-V-12-XKE-1972-Jaguar-V12-E-Type-XKE-ROADST ...
Current bid $2,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 6 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
1972 Jaguar V12 Roadster convertible XKE E-type. Low miles, approx 21,400 miles. I've owned the car since 1979 when I bought it from the original owner. It had less than 13,000 miles when I bought the car in '79. Interior is in excelent, almost new condition with almost no wear. Interior is red-red with black dash. Very miner color fade on red leather seat back but no splits or wear through. Always had floor mats which have some wear but carpet is excellent under mats. Original top is excelent with some miner shrinkage. Rear window has minor yellowing, no cracks. Car has the original tonneau to cover the top when down.

The car has been stored away most of its life. The original vacuum hoses are dried and cracked. The car needs some attention. It runs rough and needs the vacuum lines replaced and most likely the first complete tune-up in its life. Radiator hoses should also be updated. The engine and underside are dirty & oily from sitting and deserves a good cleaning and detail. I replaced the fuel pump, electronic ignition module and the dried out original tires about 8 years ago. The replacement tires on the car are the original style Dunlap narrow white walls with about 1,000 miles on them. The wire wheels are in good condition. No rust but they need a good cleaning too.

The exterior color is Old English White, an off white shade that goes well with the red interior. The original owner had the car undercoated when new. The dealership went wild with the black undercoating and coated the outside rocker panels up to the bottom of the doors and the entire rear underside almost up to the bumpers. It was ugly. I cleaned off the undercoating but couldn't get rid of the yellow stain in the paint so I had the car repainted the correct Old English White - in laquer. Big mistake. The laqure has since developed spider web like cracking that is visable if you look for it. Non the less a descriminating buyer may want to repaint the car.

The car has never been wrecked or rusted and is very straight & solid, however I recently scrapped the passenger's door while hand pushing the car from one end of the storage barn to the other in order to change oil and prep the car before starting the car after parking it 4 years ago. It is miner damage.

I'd say this is a good car for someone who wants a bargin and willing to put the time and energy to bring the mechanics and posibly paint up to date. With only 21,000 miles, it doesn't need a major rebuild. There is no rustout to repair and only a miner ding/scrape. Interior & top do not need to be replaced.

    Car returns to ebay 6/1/09

    1972 JAGUAR XKE
    VIN: UC1S20522BW

We are pleased to offer this beautiful low-mileage Series III Jaguar XKE convertible in mint condition. We believe it is one of the nicest Series III cars available in the country. Pictures just can’t capture how stunning this car is in person. We purchased it from the second owner who had the car for 29 years and only put 9000 miles on it during that time. It may look like it has had a $100,000 rotisserie restoration but it has not. This is an original low-mileage car. It has had one show-quality bare metal repaint in the original color. Everything else is original and in near-perfect condition. The car has never been torn apart. It has never had ANY rust or accident damage. All of the sheet metal is original and perfect. The interior and top are original and perfect. The chrome is all original and spectacular. The engine has never been out of the car. All of the numbers match. It has perfect wire wheels with ultra rare correct Dunlop tires. Comes with the original owner’s manual and data plate. ’72 is a great year for the Series III cars because they don’t have the ugly rubber bumper over-riders that the later cars have.

    MECHANICAL CONDITION:
When we bought this car it had been in storage a few years so we took it to the local Jaguar specialist and had it completely gone through so that it was ready to be driven and enjoyed safely and reliably. The work done to the car totaled more than $6500 and is as follows:

    ENGINE:
    * Carbs removed and rebuilt. New fuel filter and fuel lines.
    * Cam covers removed and gaskets replaced.
    * New distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and plug wires.
    * Radiator flushed and all new hoses installed.
    * New thermostat.
    * Engine oil and filter changed.
    * Transmission pan removed and fluid changed.
    * Timing set and carbs adjusted.

    EXHAUST:
    * COMPLETE new stainless steel exhaust from manifolds back!!

    BRAKES:
    * Front wheel bearings replaced, rotors turned, new pads installed and brake fluid changed.

    SUMMARY
All-in-all one of the best Series III E-Types on the market. It has it all: low mileage, stunning condition and has been completely serviced. This car needs absolutely nothing. It runs and drives fantastically. It is ready to be enjoyed and will satisfy the most discriminating enthusiast or collector. It could not be duplicated without spending $100K on your typical un-restored car.
