Lot 283 at Tennants Auctions sale of Classic Cars and Motorcycles at Leyburn on 16th October 2021. Sold for £47,000. Catalogue description below.
www.auctions.tennants.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-283---1974-jaguar-e-type-v12-registr ...

A late example of the iconic drophead from Jaguar. Very much an original machine sporting a later respray and now showing signs of wear and tear but still smart. The paintwork is generally OK but it has some localised issues regarding the finish and would benefit from some remedial work and professional polishing. There is some evidence of repairs to the lower sills and corrosion in the floor area. The interior shows great originality with honest patination which is appealing to the collector and enthusiast. The hood mechanism works well and although there appears no damage to the cover the plastic rear window has suffered a split in one of the folds. Wheels and tyres show some ageing but are serviceable.

Running and driving but would need some re-commissioning. It comes with the V5C certificate showing 5 former owners, original handbook, and a good history file which includes various receipts, past MoTs and purchase invoices. The last MoT expired on 17th May 2018. This rare RHD example is one for the enthusiast with some practical skills that could improve it and use it.

Car returned to auction 10/23

www.easyliveauction.com/catalogue/lot/3e30ebed035b832915bec653fbe482c1/0af8d2454 ...

Auction description:

Charterhouse Auctioneers

Hammer £58,000

1974 Jaguar E-Type SIII V12 Roadster

Registration number CTC 184M

Chassis number 152511

Engine number 75134025B

Red with a black leather interior

Manual gearbox

File of invoices of work carried out

Bought in 2021 the owner has treated this Roadster to much expenditure, somewhere in the region of £30,000

With a new Mohair hood (not fitted)

Stored in a car cocoon

**MOT expires September 2024 (no advisories)**

From a serial supercar and classic car owner, who has also enjoyed his own helicopters and jets to transport him for business

With so much work carried out the next owner can enjoy 'as is' or take it to the next level with a re-paint

The car is featured in a 1980/1990's promotional Head (sports bag/luggage company) brochure, a copy of which is included in the sale

Operating, Maintenance and Service handbook

With V5C

The Jaguar recently suffered a small dent to the front of the bonnet

The owner will has had the bonnet re-hung as he was not quite happy with the fit and possibly the nearside door too before the sale

There are no receipts (estimated at some £30,000) for the expenditure during the vendors ownership

The interior has good patina, as is the paintwork which he chose to leave alone on the basis of using the car rather than having a show car

Note from the client:

A list of what's recently been done in the last 100 mile

Refurbished fuel tank

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
