Outside: From a distance the E Type looks good, the black paint finish lends a menacing presence with the wide wheels and brightwork providing a pleasant contrast. Up close, the paint is a bit tatty with some micro blistering , notably on the rear door and rear wings. There is deeper corrosion on the lower edge of the nearside door, other areas are more lightly affected with all the wheel arches appearing nice and solid. All the brightwork is in place and looks serviceable. The front grill has some light dents and the vertical bars require replacement. The wire wheels spokes are a bit rusty and it may need a new set of tyres. The rear lower section of the car is in very good condition. Autoseclo having fabricated new upper quarter areas and undertaken welding to the lower valence in 2018.
Inside: A touch worn but very authentic with the leather needing a good feed. The Webasto sunroof opens and secures easily and there is no evidence of any staining from water ingress around the headlining. Lifting the carpets reveals solid metal with surface rust in places.
Underneath: The engine bay is in decent order although a bit grubby. The car is a bit difficult to start from cold probably due to lack of recent use. Once going it drives well, is nice and solid on the road with the manual gearbox shifts good and the engine pulling nicely. Underneath there is still black underseal and it appears solid with some areas requiring remedial work. The exhaust system is OK with no signs of blowing. There is some coolant underneath the car, but not sure if this is from a leak or over filling.
