Ebay item 5/11/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $1,525.69 no reserve, 16 bids.

Sellers description:
My father purchased this car in 1986 with an eye toward restoring the car. It had had a new motor installed by Crow Engineering in 1985. Crow Engineering was a firm that traveled the U.S. installing re-manufactured engines in Jaguars (some of the people I have spoken with by phone remember the company). I believe that there are very few miles on this engine. The engine is not "numbers matching" to the car. I believe it is a 1972 low compression engine based on the block stamping. My father was not very good about projects, and died without having done anything to the car.

The car was put in the garage in 1986 and has not moved since. It was a complete, driveable car. I have not tried to start the car, but the motor does turn by hand.

Rust has been the big question I've had in my phone conversations. I will detail my observations.

* Bonnet: the right front headlight bucket is rusted through. There appears to be no other serious rust or other collision damage/repair. All of the trim and grill are present and in good condition. The hinge areas are perfect. Very little work will be needed to get a like new bonnet out of this car.
* Drivers door. Rust and paint bubbles along the bottom. I believe this is limited to a door skin type issue.
* Floor boards. Although they are rusted through on the driver and passenger side, It's not a "Flintstones" kind of thing. Most of the metal is still there and the rust does not appear to extend to the transmission tunnel, or the sills.
* Spare tire well. There are a few rusted through spots, but the area appears to be basically sound, see the photos.

Other "issues" The car seems to have been slightly hit in the rear, which caused some buckling at the left rear quarter, and below the hatch. This area has also been repainted before, as I can see some body filler through where the paint has cracked. I think this damage is mainly the sort of thing that happen to a non-safety bumper car over 15 years on the road. The sheet metal in the trunk area appears to be straight.
Overall I view this car as a solid parts car, with many useable items. Engine, Trans, and rear are all servicable, as well as all the trim, switches, gauges etc. The A/C still has pressure in the system.

Car has a buy it now price of $12,950 for 18 days.

Sellers description:
Chassis # IS70590
Engine# 7S1831-SA
Body # 4S50681
Gearbox # KL342

A 1971 Jaguar XKE 2+2 Coupe. Four speed manual transmission. V12 engine. Wire wheels. 85909 miles showing on the odometer. The car is all matching numbers and as far as I have been told, it is complete. The body is in primer but the original color of the car was blue. However, everything is apart. The last picture shows the car as it was before being dismantled, NOT as it is now. The body shell is sitting on a rolling wheel frame as you can see in the pictures. All the other parts are in boxed storage.

Will require a BOX TRUCK for transportation. The vehicle is located in Madison, WI.

Silly question, any idea where the origonal motor might be, junked or hopefully rebuilt?

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
