Ebay item 9/22/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $17,601 reserve not met, 20 bids 4 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1971 Series 3 Jaguar XKE for sale. Silver over black is one of the most desirable color combinations on a classic Jaguar, and this car runs, drives, and looks very nice!

The biggest selling point on this particular XKE for sale (aside from its great looks) is the completely rebuilt, numbers matching engine. The heads alone on this Jaguar XKE were over $3000. The cost of the new and refurbished engine parts was over $10,000 total. The car has only been driven around 300 miles since the engine rebuild. Listen to the engine run in the videos below and you will be able to appreciate all of the time and expertise that went into making this classic Jaguar purr like a kitten. There are receipts of the work done.

The interior is very comfortable and in overall good condition. The front seats were reupholstered with the correct material. The cost of the material alone was over $1000, and as you would expect when doing things correctly they look great! The headliner is in nice shape and the door panels are original and they are still very nice looking. There are some 6x9 speakers in the back and thankfully no cutting was done--they are just sitting loose in the rear luggage area. The seller tried the A/C for the first time the day of our photo shoot and it did blow out cool air. The fan started to make a little clicking noise at one point but all of the different speeds for the fan worked with the switch. Since the a/c wasn't used in years I would guess it would benefit from a fresh recharge.

The paint is really nice on the car. From even just 5 feet away this classic Jaguar looks very sharp. There are a few small imperfections. The chrome is original and unless you stick your nose right up to it the shine looks nice against the beautiful silver paint work.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
