This 1971 Jaguar E-Type is a 2+2 coupe that was sold new at Fletcher Jones Import Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and reportedly stayed with the family of its original owner until 2002 before being acquired by its current owner in 2004. Power is from a numbers-matching 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and the car is finished in yellow over a tan interior. Modifications include Dayton wire wheels, a FAST Fireball electronic ignition system, and an R134a air conditioning conversion. The brake master cylinder was replaced, the brakes flushed, and and oil change performed in preparation for the sale. This E-Type is offered on behalf of its current owner by his son with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, service records, a data plate, manufacturer’s literature, a repair manual, spare parts, and transferable Georgia registration.
The car was finished in Pale Primrose Yellow from the factory. The seller notes overspray below the front bumper, on the wiring harness, and on the hood from paintwork performed under previous ownership. Dents, scrapes, and touch-ups are also present. Spare badges are included in the sale, as are an under-bonnet scoop with bright trim, chrome front AMCO bars, and touch-up paint.
Splined hubs and Dayton wire wheels were fitted shortly after the current owner’s acquisition in 2004, and the seller notes that the Pirelli P4000 tires should be replaced due to age. Brake work in 2004 included replacement of the rear rotors and pads as well as rebuilds of the rear calipers. A new vacuum servo, hoses, and fluid level sensors were fitted in 2017, and the brake master cylinder and fluid were replaced in 2020. A spare wire wheel and inner tube are included in the sale along with a knock-off hammer, while the tire jack and driver’s side brake cooling duct are missing.
Cinnamon leather bucket seats with adjustable headrests are joined by a matching rear bench. The headliner was replaced in 2007, and Jaguar rubber mats protect the tan carpets up front. Equipment includes a Concord cassette deck and an air conditioning system running R134a refrigerant. An air conditioning louver is damaged, and the map light on the underside of the dash cover does not work.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, with gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level located in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows just over 22k miles, approximately 1,100 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.3-liter V12 features four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and has been modified with a Fireball electronic ignition setup from Fuel Air Spark Technology. Service in the last three years included an oil change and Sea Foam fuel treatment in 2020, a replacement ignition coil, amplifier, Duracell battery, and disconnect in 2019, a new fuel filter in 2018, and a solid-state fuel pump in 2017.
The stamp on the engine block matches the number indicated on both the VIN plate and the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate shown below. A cold-start video has been provided by the seller.
The three-speed automatic transmission was removed for installation of a new filter, seals, and gaskets in 2004. The seller notes the presence of an oil drip. Additional underbody photos can be viewed in the gallery below along with pictures of the spare parts included in the sale.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate lists factory colors and drivetrain numbers as well as a June 1971 dispatch date.
