Seller's description:

Location: Portland, Oregon, 97229

VIN #: upon request

Mileage: 61,000

Transmission: Auto

Condition: Excellent

Exterior: Silver

Interior: Red

Preservation Defined:

I had the honor of purchasing the1971 Jaguar V12 E-Type coupe from the original owner, the late James Lissner. Mr. Lissner was a WWII Navy veteran Commander, lead Boeing 747 Jet engineer, and Concours d'elegance Chairman.

This is the first year for the V-12 and the only year for the higher performance 314 H.P 9:1 engine. The added compression makes for spectacularly smooth and powerful acceleration from just off idle. This car has been garaged and cared for its entire life.

This E Type has the pedigree that makes is one of the best original and well-maintained XKEs in the world. It has never been apart and still wears the original color, interior and comes with factory jack. It is fitted with 1 of 1 heatshield covers commissioned Mr. Lissner and built by Robert Fox. Comprehensive paper trail comes with the car.

The E Type has been maintained by The Park Place LTD Motor Group while in Seattle and, Jaguar gurus Consolidated Auto Works while in Portland. Recent maintenance consisted of:

Major tune-up

New tires

Headliner

Seat foams

Brakes

fan thermostat sensors

New Vintage Blue Tooth sound system and professionally installed. Model 2 Radio and speakers. Still have the original radio

Regularly driven, the odometer reads 62K original miles and the 5.3L V12 engine runs very strong. The torque of the 12 cylinder engine makes the car fun to drive and these have more than enough power to keep up with anything on the road.

This E-Type is a very solid and rare driver, and is very smooth at speed. The paint is older and showing some minor rock chips and blemishes, but overall shiny and nice looking. The interior is beautiful, original with good leather on seats, The car was factory equipped with the optional chrome wire wheels and has a full stainless steel exhaust. The Silver exterior is in excellent original shape. Proper shade and proper gloss. There is no rust, corrosion, nor accident present. Chrome is all original and still good. Bonnet fit is excellent as the car has not had any damage.

The car starts, runs, and drives excellent. The suspension and longer wheelbase give the car a smooth but controlled ride over any road conditions. Very sophisticated car for its time period. This Jaguar would make a great long distance cruiser, and is as comfortable as any 48 year old car could be. It has phenomenal acceleration through the gears and will amaze with the smoothness of the engine and drive train. The Transmission is very smooth engaging and the brakes work very well hauling it to a stop from higher speeds. These are wonderful touring cars and work best if driven regularly. This one has factory air conditioning to make using it year round a possibility.

Price: $58,500

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
