This 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series II 2+2 was acquired by the current owner in 1979 and refurbished circa 1987. It is finished in silver over red leather upholstery and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes quadruple carburetors, 15″ steel wheels, air conditioning, a push-button radio, and aftermarket speakers. Service in 2021 involved overhauling the carburetors and replacing the ignition switch assembly and the voltage regulator. This E-Type is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with service records and a Pennsylvania title.
The seller notes that the car was repainted silver as part of the 1987 refurbishment. Exterior details include a louvered hood and quad exhaust outlets. Cracks and bubbles in the paint are noted, and blemishes are visible.
Steel 15″ wheels are mounted with 215/70 Dunlop Elite Seventy tires, which the seller states need to be replaced. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering and four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The 2+2 cabin is trimmed in red leather complemented by a black dashboard and color-coordinated door panels and carpets. The air conditioning system has been converted to run on R-134a refrigerant, and a push-button radio is linked to aftermarket speakers. The ignition switch assembly was replaced in 2021.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along and auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.3-liter V12 was rated at 314 horsepower and 349 lb-ft of torque when new. The quadruple carburetors were overhauled and the voltage regulator was replaced in 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The Pennsylvania title carries a “Classic Vehicle” brand.
