Current bid $3,000, 1 bid, 6 days left in auction. 86k miles.

Sellers description:
1972 XKE Coupe
My Baby Needs a New Home!
She has been a pleasure to drive, but now for health reasons, I am forced to find her a new home.

She was my daily driver for 4 years but has not been driven much over the last 2 years (Too many other cars).

This is a running, driving E-Type!!

Body Condition: Straight with the exception of one small ding in the bonnet and the usual door dings. There are two small areas of rust, one on the sill behind the front right tire (it just appeared recently), and some small bubbling behind the rear right tire. The bonnet appears to have been repainted and clear-coated at one time, and the rest of the paint is faded and blistered in a few areas. The primered areas on the sills and the bonnet are areas which I had dents removed.... they were not rust areas! I took a peek under the floor mats, and did not see any evidence of rust in the floors.

Interior: The upholstery was re-sprayed prior to my purchase. There are no rips or tears, but normal wear including the normal spot on the drivers' seat, but all in all , pretty good. The dash vinyl has a crack on the pasenger side.

Glass: There are no cracks or fogging in the window glass.

Engine: The engine ran perfectly for many years. When I started it up recently, it was not running perfectly. I discovered that the fuel non-return valve (located on the left bank carburettors) was sputtering. I removed it, cleaned and inspected it, and replaced it. It continued to sputter, and a mechanic isuggested to me that the spring inside had probably lost its strength. It is about a $2 spring available from XK's Unlimited. Following this, a carb tune and engine tune would make her purr beautifully once again. The vehicle has been converted to electronic ignition.

Transmission: The transmission seems to work properly, although a replacement of the fluid would be in order.

Chrome: All the chrome is straight and has the slight pitting you would expect to find on a 35 year old driver. The rear plate plinth has a dent in it. The car is missing the upper grille surround and the valance surround. The rear window chrome is not on the car, but is in good condition and comes with the car. The hubcaps have surface rust.

Tires: The tires have very good tread depth and are in good condition.

Brakes: The brakes operate well, but a good flushing of the brake system would be in order (It hasn't been flushed in the six years I've owned the car). I drove the car around and they seemed to work just fine.

Instruments: All the guages and lights work well EXCEPT the speedometer. I was travelling a VERY high rate of speed when the speedo cable began to grind and then snapped! A new cable comes with the car!

Rubber: The rubber seals are as you would find on a 35 year old driver. The door , bonnet and bumper seals should be replaced immediately, the window seals could wait for a lot longer.

What's broken or missing: The speedometer cable, the horns are disconnected, the turn signal plastic handle, the choke handle cover, and any other items listed above.

Extra Goodies: Included in this sale are: A factory service manual (reprint), New CHROME EXHAUST TIP, U-joints, rear window rubber, speedo cable and the original owner's manual.

I have made a honest attempt to accurately describe this vehicle. With a minimul amount of effort someone can make this a nice driver level automobile or convert her to a vintage race car!

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
