Current bid $10,100.00 (Reserve not met), 3 bids, 5 days left in auction. Auction based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Sellers description:
You are viewing the only car ever to be shown in the Museum of Modern Art. A classic beauty, few are around today as nice as this one. Nicely done restoration by a local shop. Carries a Jaguar Cars Concours registration.

It is a nine point car. No Rust anywhere. Repainted in 2002, original color. New interior, complete with new seat foams, covers, headrests, armrests. New rear seat cover, rear door panel, upper rear door panel. New Chrome.

Original Replacement carpets AND pads. New battery ( not original) new Dunlop SP40 tires. New Dayton Wire Wheels.

( Comes with the original set also) Engine rebuild included new main bearings, rod bearings, new timing chains, etc.

The intake pleniums and the carburator diaphram covers have been polished.

New starter motor, ignition switch, starter relay ( I guess they decided to cover everything. New( last week) fuel pump, (an OEM pump, not the plastic replacement)New ignition wires, timing module. New engine bay stickers. The snarl from the V-12 engines four tail pipes is unlike any other car available.

Air conditioning works, as does, (ready for this? )

The clock!

This is a really fine example of this car. Can be driven anywhere. I have extensive documentation, from the original owners manual, the service manual, and a shopping bag of receipts. College tuition forces sale.

On Feb-24-05 at 06:19:16 PST, seller added the following information:
The car also comes with a special ordered custom fit " Evolution 4" car cover, material patented and designed by Kimberly Clark. It is cut specifically to fit the overall shape of the car.

In response to inquiries about the second set of Dayton wire wheels, they are serviceable and the chrome will clean up with steel wool and a bit of effort, I'm just too lazy. They are in the original boxes and could be re sold. I also have the fuel pump that was replaced. It turns out it is okay, the contacts corrode from lack of use and can be cleaned up.

The radio is the original ( junk) radio that came with the car. I have the tool kit and two tools to remove the wheel nuts.

Previous auction ended at $16,000, no bids received.

At Auction Bring a Trailer site

bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-jaguar-e-type-2/

converted to 5 speed manual ---- from the seller:

The 5 speed is called a JT5, specifically designed for Jaguars, not a mishmash of some other
trans. They've sold over 3000 of these just for Jags, it was originally designed for Jag race
cars in the late 90's. They're available in 9 different ratio types, and costs over $5000 for
the trans kit, which includes a brand new bell housing with a modern internal hydraulic throw out bearing. It shifts beautifully and will take 400 HP behind a modified V12 engine.

Hi There,

I believe this was my fathers car back in the 70’s into the early 80’s when is was still an automatic. I can’t seem to pull any carfax type due to the vin not being 17 characters long. Any idea where I can find out the history on these (this one) old cars? He recently passed away and I’ve been looking for his old cars that I remember as a child and from old pics (mostly Polaroids) and trying to track them down.

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance…

Cheers,

Lee

Lot #167075

This 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 equipped with quadruple SU carburetors linked to a five-speed manual conversion. It received a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment in September 2016 before it was acquired by the current owner, a collector, on BaT in October 2016, and continued work has involved replacing the air conditioning compressor, brake booster, and brake master cylinder. The car features a Regency Red finish and is further equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and 15” knock-off wire wheels. On the inside, seating upholstered in black leather is accompanied by a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an AM/FM radio, and air conditioning converted to utilize R134a refrigerant. This Series III E-Type is now offered on dealer consignment with the owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Tennessee title.

The car is finished in Regency Red and was repainted approximately three decades ago. Features include uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, US-spec bumpers, and a power antenna.

Wire-spoke 15″ wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and wear 205/70R15 Michelin Radial XSE tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake master cylinder and booster were replaced in 2020.

The 2+2 cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench seat upholstered in black leather as well as color-coordinated door panels. The front seats were re-dyed and the headliner replaced in 2016, at which time the air conditioning system was converted to R134a. The A/C compressor and drier were replaced in 2017. An AM/FM radio is fitted ahead of the shifter.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 91k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.3-liter V12 was fitted with quadruple SU carburetors, SU fuel pumps, and a replacement fuel tank in 2016.

A five-speed manual transmission was installed in place of the factory automatic gearbox in 2012, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential.

Records detailing the 2016 refurbishment and additional work performed over the last approximately 2k miles are included in the sale and are said to total over $44k. The owner’s manual also accompanies the car.
