Auction Type Reserve
The car was repainted in its factory color, Jaguar Fern Grey, in 2010, per the seller, who goes on to state that this E-type is a “rust-free California car.” Shows bright, glossy, well-applied paint, good quality brightwork, and no evidence of corrosion. The seller considers the finish to be “perfect” and describes the glass as “original and untouched.” He goes on to note good weather seals with no leaks and that all exterior lighting is in working order.
INTERIOR
Moss Green imported English Connolly leather was used to reupholster the seats in 2010, per the seller, who describes their present condition as being “9/10.” Photos appear to show seats and interior trim in very good order, save for minor creasing of the driver’s-seat bottom and a scuff on the side of the driver’s-seat back. The seller states that the heat and air conditioning both work, as do the manual windows and door locks. The car retains a period Blaupunkt radio, which was bypassed and superseded by a modern AM/FM stereo with Sirius XM, according to the seller. The seller mentions no issues with the car’s gauges or interior lighting.
CHASSIS
The car’s brakes are “new,” per the seller. The power rack-and-pinion steering is “free of play,” with the seller stating the car “drives perfect.” The Jaguar’s chassis components appear corrosion-free.
This E-type rides on a set of 15-inch wire wheels, including a full-size spare wheel, which the seller states have been “redone.” Information on the narrow-whitewall tires was not provided, and DOT date codes are not visible in the images supplied. Tires should be inspected for age and condition before this vehicle is driven any distance.
DOCUMENTATION
The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean New Jersey title in the owner’s name. The seller is assisting the owner of the vehicle, with his approval, to get the vehicle listed online. Also included are service history documents going back to 1974, numerous repair and service manuals, spare parts, and receipts totaling $30,000. This 1973 Series III Jaguar E-type 2+2 Coupe provides classic Jaguar styling along with the power and comfort to be a superb long-distance touring machine. As Jaguar itself phrased it, the car possesses “grace, space, and pace.”
