    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $39,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 8 days left in auction. 48k miles.

    Sellers description:
This is a restoration from bare metal up and finished in Titanium. Ill health of owner forces sale before the interior is finished. Hard top is apart for painting. Engine, Trans and rear end/differential have been completely rebuilt by Leo Goff Competetion in Memphis. There is less than 500 miles on the rebuild. Wheels, exhaust, hydraulics and soft top are new. Car runs great and is very quick. Fitted with Weber carbs and the earlier polished cam covers the engine compartment is concours ready. Original cam covers go with the car. There is a spare set of wheels and other parts that will also go with the sale. The interior leather onthe seats is not bad. The door panels need to be done as does the foot well walls. It also needs a carpet set. The dash and instruments have been refreshed and all guages work The car does not run hot, leak oil or water or smoke.

Probably less than the guy has in it but an ambitious price given the current state?

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
