Ebay item 8/17/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-ROADSTER-1971-JAGUAR-XKE-ROADSTER-SURVIVOR ...
Opening bid $10,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 9 days left in auction. Note, even tho the auction listing says the car is in California in the description it is said to be located in New Jersey.

Sellers description:
WHAT MAKES THIS 1971 JAGUAR SO SPECIAL IS THAT THIS XKE IS ALL ORIGINAL WITH ONLY 12,911 “ORIGINAL” MILES!
What I am listing here is very nit-picking stuff for the unsophisticated bidder that does not understand that very minor changes can occur to a vehicle during 37 years, even if the vehicle is not used. This XKE is 37 years old and does show a bit of patina, in the engine compartment and interior, but this does not detract from its beauty. Keep in mind that a vehicle may be restored many times but is original only once! There is one very small touched-up door ding and one small paint touch-up about ¾”x1/16”. There is a very small 3/16” chip in the paint on the hard top that is barely noticeable. When the hard top is removed, the paint at the rear of the top shows slightly where it was resting the paint. The owner believes that it can be color sanded out. There is a barely noticeable very thin scratch in the windshield which may be able to be polished out. No attempt has been made to have it repaired. One wheel knockoff has a few spots of chrome peeling. This is a very easy thing to have it rechromed if new owner wants to have it done. The inside of the soft top shows some discoloration where it was touching the top bows when the top was down. As one should expect on a vehicle this age, the clock is not currently working, and no attempt has been made to have it repaired. There is a very small wear spot (3/8” x ¾”) in the carpet near the gas pedal. The leather seats show some patina. There is some deflation of the headrests, which can easily be restuffed. The rubber weather strip at the front of the soft top shows some age, but this is easily replaced. Some of the rubber seal above rocker panel shows some wear. Keep in mind that the owner did not want to do any “restoration” and preferred to keep this XKE in original “survivor” condition.

THE CURRENT OWNER PURCHASED THIS XKE ON AUGUST 22, 1975. HE WAS A JAGUAR ENTHUSIAST WHO TOOK VERY SPECIAL CARE OF THIS JAGUAR AND DROVE THIS XKE SPARINGLY AND ONLY FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS IN GOOD WEATHER. IN THE 32 YEARS HE HAS OWNED IT, HE HAS PUT ONLY 2,810 MILES ON THIS JAGUAR, WHICH WAS ALWAYS GARAGED WHEN NOT BEING DRIVEN. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY PROUD OF THIS JAGUAR, WHICH IS NOW RELUCTANTLY BEING MADE AVAILABLE FOR THE 1ST TIME TO VERY LUCKY EBAY BIDDERS. THIS VEHICLE WOULD BE AN EXCEPTIONAL ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION.

THIS BEAUTIFUL XKE STILL HAS ITS FACTORY ORIGINAL SABLE PAINT. IT EVEN STILL HAS ITS ORIGINAL DUNLOP SP SPORT TIRES. THE PAINT, CHROME, RUBBER, TIRES, CONVERTIBLE TOP, ETC ARE ALL ORIGINAL! EVERYTHING IS IN EXCELLENT FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION! THE EXTERIOR IS INCREDIBLE, BUT THAT’S JUST THE BEGINNING!

THE STUNNING “ORIGINAL” TAN LEATHER INTERIOR IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. EVERYTHING IN HERE LOOKS EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN. THE UPHOLSTERY, DOOR PANELS, CARPET, PAINTED SURFACES, CHROME & STAINLESS, EVERY GAUGE, EVERYTHING LOOKS NEW OR ALMOST NEW! ONLY THE RADIO WAS INSTALLED AFTER THE CAR LEFT THE FACTORY, AND INCLUDED WITH THE CAR IS AN ORIGINAL FACTORY ANTENNA, BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN INSTALLED.

Q: Hi The tyres in the pictures are not original Dunlop SP Sports, as stated in the description - is there another set of wheels and tyres?
A: Hi and thanks for your interest. The "original" Dunlop SP Sport tires that this car came with from the factory are on the car, but they had previously been removed and placed in storage to preserve them. I had some photos of the car that were taken just before the original set of tires was reinstalled and I may have posted some of those photos in the listing. Sorry for any confusion.

Q: Hi, Could you tell me where in New Jersey and when this car can be viewed? Regards Frank
A: Hi Frank~Please call me at the phone number in the listing for that information. Thanks, Steve

Q: Hi Steve, Would it be possible to make an appointment to see the car? Thanks Nader
A: Hi Nader~That's no problem. Just call me at (818) 400-6180 to set it up.

Q: would you assist in shipping, locating a carrier,Etc? Allen
A: Hi Allen~I have some very good contacts for shipping at the right price and I will be happy to assist in arranging that for you.

Q: Hi there, Is the original service pasport with the car? Is the original toolkit still there? Thank you.
A: Sorry I forgot to mention this. Yes, it does have the original Service Passport and the Tool Kit (Jack, Handle, Knock-off Cap, Brass Mallet, and Spark Plug Wrench).

Q: Hello, what is the reserve of this vehicle? Is there are buy it now? Thanks, Frank
A: Hi Frank~I do not disclose reserves. The car will be sold to the person who makes the highest reasonable offer.

Q: Listing says located in CA but detailed description says car is in NJ?
A: That is correct and factual.

Q: Hi, If you don't mind, Can you pls tell me how much is the reserve amount? Thank you
A: Thanks for your interest. I do not disclose reserves. Please bid the amount you are willing to pay for the car. Thanks, Steve

Q: Hello Where can the car be viewed in New Jersey? What paperwork and documents come with the car? What is the conditon of the hardtop interior? Regards Brian
A: Hi Brian~Yes, the car may viewed in New Jersey. There are a few almost invisible water spots on the headliner. The hard top is in excellent unrestored condition, but does need the rear weather strip replaced. Owner has the Bill-of-Sale from when he bought the car in 1975.

As of July 2010, still for sale, Cooper classics:

This may be the finest condition unmolested original Series II XKEs in existence. It is one of the last six cylinder examples ever produced. The car is Sable with a Biscuit Interior, Black Everflex Top. Any collector in the market for an exceptional original car should look no further. It is a two owner car, and it is untouched in every way down to the tires. Everything is in like new original factory condition including the paint, chrome, convertible top, interior, carpeting etc. Driving the car is a pleasure as it is in excellent mechanical condition. We have a Heritage Certificate, a bill of sale for the second owner when he purchased the car in 1975, official mileage statements, original window sticker, the original books, and tools. The car has always been garaged and meticulously cared for with only 2800 miles put on the car by the previous owner since 1975. When detailing the car we found the original window sticker hidden in the recess of the passenger window where it had been sitting since 1971!

Auction description;

Scottsdale 2019

1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2-Litre Roadster

Estimate: $120,000 - $140,000 | Without Reserve

Chassis: 2R 14259

Engine: 7R 13490-9

Remained in Single Ownership for Over 30 Years

Highly Original Example Displaying Less than 14,000 Miles

Finished in the Rare Color of Sable; Retains Matching-Numbers Engine

Benefits from Major Mechanical Work Performed in 2012

Offered with JDHT Certificate, Books, Tools, and Jack

This beautifully preserved E-Type has benefited from careful ownership over the course of its life as well as thorough mechanical servicing in recent years. Distributed through British Leyland Motors of New York in September 1970, the car was finished in the rare color of Sable over a beige interior with a black convertible top. The second owner, John Bulzacchelli of Scarsdale, New York, purchased the E-Type in 1975, and it would remain with him for over 30 years. According to a note on file, he cherished the car, meticulously maintaining it and adding a bit over 2,800 miles.

In 2012, under new ownership, the Jaguar received a major mechanical servicing. This included work to the engine, clutch, radiator, ignition, fuel system, brakes, suspension, and electrical system. It was also converted to a three-SU carburetor setup at that time. The consignor states that the car retains its original paint and interior and remains in lovely preservation-class condition. Displaying just under 14,000 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing, the Jaguar is also fitted with its matching-numbers engine per its accompanying Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate. The E-Type is further accompanied by its books, tools, and jack.

It is rare to find an example of Jaguar’s iconic E-Type in such original condition. This example is sure to capture the attention of those interested in preservation-class collector cars, as it represents a unique opportunity to acquire an intact example in distinctive specification.
