    Car returns to ebay 4/14/13
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-Jaguar-E-type-Series-II-Coupe-Restored-Absolutely-S ...
Car has a buy it now price of $49,000 for 6 days. Car now said to be in Cornelius, North Carolina. Previous auction ended at $27,660 reserve not met. 51k miles.

    Sellers description:
This Jaguar was built on May 26 of 1970. The date of dispatch is September 10 of 1970. This car was completely restored and completed around 2007/2008. The car has not been driven much at all since it was completed. As we understand the previous owner had the car completely restored to a high level driver/show quality and shortly after became very sick. Also, as we understand, he was very particular the way he wanted the car done. It is not a concours trailer queen, but is most likely one of the nicer Jaguar E-types Series II Coupes available today. The year 1971 was the last year for the Series 2 cars before they went to the V12. This car Chassis Number P2R 28218, is one of the last 568 Series II Fixed Head coupes produced. The last one made was number 28786 (According to the book "Factory Original Jaguar E-type" by Jaguar Archivist Anders Ditlev Clausager). This is a matching numbers car and the numbers are as follows:
    Chassis Number: P2R 28218
    Engine Number: 7R 12929-9
    Body Number: 4R 24130
    Gearbox Number: KE 14355

To elaborate on the condition of this car as we see it:

Body/Paint: The body is very nice on this car. The paint was done really well. It was restored to be a show/driver type car and the paint was done to a high level. There are no major flaws or imperfections and presents extremely well.

Chrome: The chrome wire wheels and knock offs look new. The bumpers, bumperettes and motif bar all look rechomred. The headlight eye brows and ring around the headlamps look redone as well. The chrome around the windshield, window pillars and side glass chrome are very good and do not look like they were re-chromed the same time as the bumpers.

Interior/Inside of trunk: The interior is all new and very well done. The carpets are all brand new. A new wooden steering wheel has been installed with a smaller diameter for ease of driving and easier to get in and out.

Engine Compartment: The engine compartment is immaculate and the frame rails are painted the same color as the exterior of the car.

Underside: The underside is very solid and clean. There were new floors installed during the restoration. The car has rarely been driven since it was restored and the underside shows lack of use. A new stainless steel exhaust system has been installed.

Spare Tire compartment: The spare tire area is very clean as well. There were some additional black strips installed to protect the white paint from getting dirty from the spare tire. There is also a tool kit which goes with the car (not original Jaguar Tool kit). It also has the original jack, hammer and knock off adaptor.

Engine/Driving/Braking: The car runs and drives excellent. The compression on the car is good of 150psi to 165psi. This Jaguar has power steering, so it is very easy to drive. The car is tight and responsive. It was sitting for a while, so we had to put new gas into the car and rebuilt the carburetors. As we understand, it has less than 300 miles since it was restored, so it really needs to be driven more than anything. The car stops immediately with no pulling. Everything is working as it should on the car.

Overall: This is a beautiful Series 2 E-type coupe. It would do great at local shows or JCNA events, as it is truly a stunning example. The car would be hard to replicate for this price in a restoration. Jaguar E-type coupes have proved to be solid investments and continue to go up in value approaching or in some cases exceeding some roadsters. This is a great car to enjoy and as an investment, as truly one of the nicer Jaguar E-type Series II Coupes offered. Also, one of the last 600 Series II Fixed Head Coupes made before the V12 Series III cars.

This automobile is available for inspection in Cornelius, NC
