Car advertised for sale by Benson Classics of Leeds in the March 1993 edition of Classic Cars. The advertisement gives the early history of the car and runs 'Ex Jackie Stewart E type Jaguar 3.8 litre flat floor roadster. Chassis number 850216. Reg number SSN300. supplied new to Stewart's family Jaguar dealership in Dumbarton in November 1961. Registered FSN1. Delivered ex factory with large front brakes and cooling ducts in bonnet and close ratio gearbox. Finished in Carmen red with black interior. Raced by Jackie Stewart 61,62 and 63 with lots of success. Featured in Pirelli advert of the period. Car sold to Eric Liddel late 63 and re-registered SSN300. Liddel competed in car with lots of success to 1965. Continuous history to date, lots of photographs of Stewart and Liddel in car and letters from various Jaguar authorities. Green log books and V5 form. 2 owners since 1977. Total restoration of car just completed by Jaguar specialist. £75,000. The car was later offered for sale in the True Greats auction by Coys at The Royal Horticultural Halls, London on 14 December 1995. Guide was £38,000 to £50,000. Not sold.
