Advertised for sale on carsales.com.au, June 2013. Seller's comments: "1961 Jaguar E Type Roadster $175,000. Original right hand drive, 3.8 litre, Series 1, flat floor roadster. Car No 850291 with matching numbers. It was first delivered to Henlys London on 29th November 1961. Colour was opalescent dark blue with dark blue leather seats and interior. The car is thought to have been brought to Australia in the 70's. In 1996 the car underwent a comprehensive ground up restoration to concours standard. The body was sent to Martin Robey in the UK for rebuild and alignment.
The car was rebuilt to exact factory specs and has no modifications. It drives as it came out of the factory. Since restoration the car has done 12,000 miles. It has been meticulously maintained and over $30,000 has been spent to keep the car as close to concours as possible. It has been featured in several magazines and is probably the nicest example in Australia.
These cars rarely appear for sale in this condition especially when it has no modifications.

I like the way people word things [I] "the body was sent to Martin Robey in the UK for rebuild and alignment."
What actually happened is the owner the purchased an entire complete bodyshell inc new engine frames, doors, bootlid, bonnet and all hinges and had it sent out to Australia.
It wasn't from memory Martin Robey it was Hutson's
Much of the chrome was relaced ie bumbers, door tops, etc etc etc then the original numbered body shell and frames inc all the unused parts etc were sod off and this original early body shell is being rebuilt properly!

Terry, do you ever have anything positive to say? You're constant bismerching of Etypes (except your own obviously) does become rather tedious

This car is currently for sale at Duttons Classic Cars, Melbourne, Australia at the rather optimistic asking price of AUD$500,000. Having inspected the car I must say Terry McGrath has a valid point - clearly the car has been rebodied with the result welded louvers are missing from the hood, steering wheel is later type with repro horn push, engine has ribbed (not smooth) sump and incorrect windscreen washer pump. This early car should also probably have body colored headlight scoops.
