Auction description:
Lot 508
1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-Litre Roadster with Hardtop
The Beaulieu Sale Collectors' Motor Cars & Automobilia
|14 September 2024
Registration no. 130 GDA
Chassis no. 850441
Engine no. R4523-9
• Present family ownership since 1974
• Used as a weekend car until around 1979
• Kept in dry storage since then
• Offered for total restoration
First registered on 1st May 1962, this 'barn find' E-Type roadster comes with an old-style continuation logbook (issued 29th November 1965) listing eight owners, its late custodian, who purchased the car in 1974, being the last recorded therein. Owners prior to November 1965 are not known. We are advised that the original colour was Opalescent Grey, and that the car was resprayed Opalescent Maroon and then back to grey again in 1972. The E-Type was used briefly as a weekend car and then stored in the family garage at Gravesend from around 1979 until it was moved to barn storage circa two years ago. Offered for restoration and sold strictly as viewed, the car is offered with an old-style V5 and the aforementioned logbook. The registration '130 GDA' is on the HPI database. The engine block is stamped R4523-9, but the head stamping is obscured.
