For sale at Historics March 4, 2017 auction
www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2017-03-04/cars/ref-118-1962-jaguar-etype.as ...
1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster
Registration 846 HYP
Chassis Number 850548
Engine Number R6043-9
Odometer reading 85,000 miles
Estimate £90,000 - £110,000
First registered in the second year of E-Type production on the 16th November 1962, this early chassis, #850548, was originally delivered to Mr. J Pitt-Becker of London through Henlys Ltd. and is one of only 942 righthand drive 3.8 litre roadsters. The Heritage Certificate that accompanies the car shows it was manufactured on 8th June, 1962 and dispatched on the 21st June and registered JPB 23. The old style logbook shows that the registration number JPB 23 was removed from the car on the 7th December, 1973 when we assume the car changed hands and has had two owners since with the current registered keeper taking ownership on the 30th January, 2009.
Put into storage a number of years ago in the West Country; it runs and drives but we would recommend having a precautionary check over before the car is used in earnest.
Finished in its original colour scheme of Carmen Red with a red interior, this matching numbers example remains in an unrestored, original condition, showing a wonderful patina throughout and would make an ideal restoration project or indeed, to be a little different, left as it is. Supplied with the aforementioned Heritage Certificate, old style log book, old MoT test certificates and a V5C; it is now rare to find an early example of Jaguar's iconic E-Type in such condition.
Lot 147 sold for £145,600.

Originally finished in Carmen Red over a Red interior, this right-hand drive 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster, chassis number 850548, was completed on 8 June 1962 and initially dispatched to London. While little is known about the car's early history, it recently underwent comprehensive transformation to Pre '63 GT specification by the renowned E-type experts at Valley Motorsport in Wrexham.
Equipment fitted during the comprehensive preparation included bucket seats with five-point OMP Racing and Schroth Racing safety harnesses, a fire suppression system, Sparco intercom, a Racelogic lap time display, and more. Visually, the Jaguar was renewed in classic British Racing Green and adorned with matching knock-off wire wheels and a dark green soft top.
This Jaguar has been freshly prepared and stands ready to make its on-track debut in the Pre '63 GT Series or any of the many other historic racing events for which it is eligible thanks to its current FIA Historic Technical Passport vaild until 2029.
