Car to be at Coy's auction 7/09
    www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php

    Auction description:
    1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8L Fixedhead Coupe
    Lot 645
    Registration Number: YSG 501
    Chassis Number: 860017

Chassis 860017 is, as you would expect, the 17th car to roll of the Jaguar production line and is one of the earliest examples on the road today. Originally registered on 20th November 1961 the car was delivered to ‘Hotpoint’, the manufacturer of white goods; fridges, washing machines and electrical items. The car was obviously for one of the directors who had the ‘inside track’ to secure a car so early off the production line. The car remained with Hotpoint for only 2-3 years when it was sold to its second and last owner. The car remained with the gentleman from the mid sixties up until last year and as such has had only 2 registered keepers in total throughout its life. 860017 is supplied with its original registration mark YSG 501 and is finished in the original colour of metallic blue. Over the last year work has been carried out on the car including the fitment of Coopercraft brakes. A V5 document, original buff log book and a file of invoices for the work carried out all accompany the vehicle.

This highly collectible example of this iconic British sports car with such a low chassis number is a must for any serious Jaguar collection.

    Estimate: £45000 - £65000

    Car returns to auction 3/11
    www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

    Auction description:
    Lot 320 - 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Fixedhead Coupe - Chassis 17
    Estimate: £40,000 - £45,000
    Registration Number: YSG 501
    Chassis Number: 860017

Chassis 860017 is the 17th right hand drive fixed head coupe to roll off the Jaguar production line and is one of the earliest examples on the road today. Originally registered on 20th November 1961 the car was delivered to 'Hotpoint', the manufacturer of white goods - fridges, washing machines and electrical items, also very much growth areas of the era. The car was obviously for one of the directors who had the 'inside track' to secure a car so early off the production line. It remained with Hotpoint for only 2-3 years until it was sold to its second owner. The car remained with this gentleman from the mid sixties up until 1990 when it changed hands for only the third time. In 2009 it passed into the care of the current owner and as such is believed to have had only 4 registered keepers in total throughout its life, one of whom owned the car for over 25 years.

860017 is still fitted with its original registration mark YSG 501 and is handsomely finished in the original colour of metallic blue with dark blue leather interior. During 2008 and 2009 some improvement work was carried out on the car, including the desirable Coopercraft brake system upgrade. The vendor describes the Jaguar as being in very good overall condition with even the rare original toolkit present and correct. A V5C registration document, MoT certificate valid until August 9th 2011, green log book and a number of invoices for work carried out all accompany the vehicle.

For the purist the 3.8 litre series I E-type is the variant to own. With only 62,670 miles on the odometer, this beautifully presented, extremely early, example of the iconic e-type would be the star of any Jaguar collection.
