This was an FHC provided by the factory to Briggs Cunningham to campaign at Le Mans.

This car is mentioned on page145 of Chris Harvey's book E-type end of an Era with a photo on the opposing page. The caption for the photo reads:

The Works E-type that raced to fourth place in Le Mans 1962 in the hands of Roy Salvadori and Briggs Cunningham. Its fuel injection engine for that race was number XK4960; the chassis number is 860630.

I've been following this car and the Lightweight E-Types for a long time. I'm surprised that #10 doesn't get more write ups in the Jag magazines considering who owned it and how well it did at Le Mans in 1962. I ahve a 1964 E-Type and painted my car to match. Where is the real one now and who owns it? The Lightweights are well documented but not 860630. David

860630 currently resides in the Collier Collection at Naples, Florida.
It was bought by Miles Collier, along with almost all of the other cars in the Briggs Cunningham Museum at Costa Mesa, California, on 31 December 1986.

Built from scratch with standard monocoque for '62 Le Mans, finished 4th overall, 2nd GT class (Salvadori/Cunningham); ran at Sebring '63; retired to Cunningham collection, now Collier Museum

I'll second the above comment, this is a hugely important E Type. And a favourite amongst its creators too.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
