Delivered by Henlys London to Caffyns of Tunbridge Wells, the Jaguar dealer for West Kent and East Sussex and first registered on 1 July 1964 with East Sussex County Council, it retains its original registration number. The second owner lived on Tyneside and it was restored there in 1985. In 2011 it underwent a full nut and bolt restoration and apart from a new floor all the original panels were retained. In 2014 the original engine was rebuilt. It has had six recorded owners and the mileage is 101,590 miles. It was sold by 2B Consulting Automotive of Macclesfield in Autumn 2014.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
